Nice grounds, found room grimy.
This was our first stay at HHV. The grounds were beautiful and I especially loved the various birds (including flamingos and penguins!) and fish/turtles right in ponds on the resort. The landscaping is beautiful and lush. We felt very safe - in fact I went out myself at night to pick up some food at one of the many restaurants and felt perfectly safe as all of the shops and restaurants are open late hours and there were lots and lots of people. The hotel also has its own security staff, which I saw twice right on our floor walking around. A couple of things: coffee pot makes 2 single cups of coffee right into paper cups, there is no pot, however a Starbucks is on site – next time I would bring a French press and my own good coffee and ask for a couple of mugs from room service! I felt for the price the room was kind of grimy – fan in shower full of dirt, grout on floors and shower dirty, bathroom floor was never swept or washed and I had to do it myself. I am not fussy but a gross bathroom I cannot handle. Internet was not included in price and I thought this was kind of cheap of this multimillion dollar hotel. We went off site mostly for meals as it was very expensive (17$ for a Belgian waffle/$18.00 for a hamburger by the pool). There are shuttles to shopping but we took a cab. The zoo was within walking distance along with the Waikiki shops. Would probably stay again but the few issues was kind of a turnoff.
