It was nasty

This Days Inn is an independently owned Days Inn. The hotel is located in a run down shopping center along a busy four lane highway. There is large empty building, a dollar store and a fast food Chinese restaurant located in the same parking lot as the hotel. Not the most attractive setting.

All walls splattered, particularly in the bathroom, with an unidentifiable substance. Was told by management that the splatter was due to guests bringing food into the rooms and that it was most likely was tomato sauce. I don't know about you but that doesn't look like tomato sauce to me (see pictures). Frankly, the last time I flung food at a wall, I was wearing diapers and sitting in a high chair. I guess a lot of the guests at the Days Inn Siler City like to throw food at the walls? There must be a lot of babies staying in the guest rooms? Fear not! I was assured by management that Health Inspectors visit the property every month. Really? And they pass? The must have lower standards in North Carolina? Do yourself a favor, make sure you're up to date on all your vaccinations before you stay at the Days Inn, Siler City.

Dead bugs, like that of a front porch light in the summertime, in bathroom light fixture. Peeling wallpaper border, crumbling drywall, pencil scribble on the bathroom door. Broken lamps, furniture and refrigerator (was told that by management that code dictates only one fridge needs to be working... why have two in the room then?). Cigarette ashes on carpet (in a supposedly non-smoking room) along with other scraps of who knows what. Clearly, the carpet wasn't vacuumed. Dirt/debris piled up in corners of room. Room smelled. In sum, this property was no better than a crack hotel and you most definitely get what you pay for. Lesson learned? Cheap room = filthy conditions. Question, is it the responsibility of the guests to ensure quality control? Shouldn't the house keepers be in charge of that? When in doubt, stay at a Marriott. Or, at the very least, a hotel wherein the owner takes pride in his/her property.

Funny that no reviews had been written about this property for over a year when I posted my scathing review. Then, after speaking with the owner and telling him I posted a negative review with pictures on TravelPost, a stellar review magically appears about this nasty, I repeat nasty, hotel the following day. And, not only does this "satisfied customer" (read: the manager trying to boost his poor ratings) post once, he posts twice and includes pictures. Also notice how the satisfied customer didn't post any "up close and personal" shots of the hotel room. Sort of makes you wonder... doesn't it? Judging by the "satisfied customer's" pictures, you would assume the rooms are like a Monet painting, they look nice from far away but upon closer inspection... they're a jumbled mess. The proof is in my photographs. Trust me when I say this hotel is horrible. Which is exactly how the bride and groom who booked the room block felt after learning they had sent their guests (myself and others) to this disgusting property.
