Staying overnight on business in Sydney and needed a hotel quickly, I found this one on the web.

It used to be the Avillion hotel but is now being run by Rydges. It's got a great central location near to Darling Harbour and some cool places to eat in Chinatown. Plus it's about a 5 minute walk to the main shopping area (Pitt Street) and right on the monorail (if you fancy a trip around the city).

I got a good rate on the Rydges website too.

Breakfast was actually better than expected, and my room is good quality too. Surprisingly quiet for a hotel in the middle of town as well.

Would definitely reccomend to others.

My room was more like mini-suite, with separate kitchen areas, a small office, large closet and bathroom. The quality of the furnishings was good.

Internet access was charged at $5.95 a day, with a $10 deposit for the ethernet cable.

The food options were very limited. The free breakfast is OK if you like bagels, juice, muffins, and not much else. There was no fresh fruit and no waitress service. There also weren’t enough tables on one day, meaning I had to miss breakfast altogether.

It's close to North Park mall, with plenty of good shops.
