Not a Bad Place to Stay
I am really glad that hotels keep up with maintenance..while we were there, they were painting the exterior of half of the hotel...so that half was not usable by guests. It would have been nice if we had been told that beforehand. We stayed on a Saturday, and the half that was open was packed. Apparently there was a school group that was staying there...because the outside corridors were very noisy. Around 10:30 PM, I called the front desk and the young man was very nice about it...telling me that Security was trying to get the message to the younger, undisciplined guests.
The room was very comfortable. Nice chairs, good desk. The bed was great. I have found that La Quinta has some great beds! No concrete slabs here! The only problem was in the morning there was very little hot water. We didn't even turn on the cold water for the shower and still the shower was lukewarm.
Breakfast was interesting. They provide such a small space for it in the lobby. The set up they do have gets quite congested...we just left and had breakfast down the street at a local cafe. The "do-it-yourself-waffles" is a nice idea...but by the the time you get done making them, there is a huge line/back up and the line gets quite congested. If you are the waffle maker, you feel that people are breathing down your back to get to the machine. There is a minimal offering at breakfast.
The staff was friendly and helpful. This La Quinta is dog friendly, which I totally appreciate. There was no charge for my dog to stay.
