Charming Hotel in the Hills Above Grasse
A lovely hotel situated in the hills above Grasse, the city known for its perfumes. The hotel has beautiful views of the city and at night it's quite peaceful to look out at all the lights. Nice, Valbonne, and Cannes are easily accessed from Grasse, although you will need a car. The hotel has its own parking lot. As part of the well-known Logis de France group, it received two "fireplaces" out of three, but it was the nicest two "fireplace" place we stayed at (and we stayed at a lot throughout our five week vacation). Not only was it very clean, but the rooms were spacious and very charmingly (not modern) decorated. The bathrooms were also the largest of our entire European travels. The downsides were no wireless and nothing within walking distance, but they may be getting wireless soon so check with the hotel.
I set up the reservations over email. Although I speak French, I wrote the emails in English. Unfortunately, the couple who owns the hotel does not speak English, so they looked up every word in a French-English dictionary and responded back to me in English. Not until my French boyfriend called them to confirm the reservation did we realize what a faux pas I had committed. But the gracious couple never let on. So if you only speak English, this may not be the hotel for you.
If we're ever in the area again, we will definitely stay there.
