Not worth the price you pay

This hotel was like going back in time, but not in an authentic charming way. It is run by a family and short on staff, who sometimes struggle to communicate with guests. stayed with a friends for a couple of nights recently for a trip to cambridge to check out the universities and museums. the rooms were very small and lacking in facilities and were very drab and slightly dirty, and overlooked the restarant section! i wouldn't have minded if the prices were low but at £85 per person per night, this is an expensive way to stay near the centre of cambridge and may be worth paying the same or less to stay slightly further away. Their website makes the hotel seem much better than it is, so beware before booking, as you may be disappointed. the restaurant did not have half of the choices on offer, and the bar had no draught beers or even chilled drinks.

A gloomy stay

Upon arriving for a trip to Norwich and checking into the holiday inn i found the room crampt and a little drab and unclean. The staff was helpful enough, if a little inept. The restaurants and bars were very quiet and not always staffed well. There was a slight confusion by reception over my online booking which took 30 minutes to sort out. Otherwise, the facilities were fine and the air conditioning about right. The hotel was placed near enough to easily traverse into Norwich city centre for all the attractions, such as they are, and the hotel stocks plenty of tourist information leaflets and the staff are knowledgeable about the area. A slight disappointment overall, but a reasonably priced hotel for a short trip.

An excellent location for sightseeing

My first trip to Washington DC. With two friends last month (June) staying in the crowne plaza washington d.c. Silver spring. A very comfortable and business orientated hotel with airy, but slightly compact rooms. All facilities supplied, and excellent and reasonable choice of room service menu. The staff was very attentive to our needs, and the bar was excellent in terms of customer service and the draught beer. Excellent location for the sightseeing attractions, which are all spaced nicely within a small grid. The restaurant in the hotel was quiet but very good quality and the prices overall were very reasonable for this class of hotel, and with reasonable flights available and plenty to see and do around the area this was an excellent trip.

A comfortable and classy hotel

I stayed with a travel companion in the waldorf last november, which saw plenty of rainfall, which for a brit wasn't unusual but did take the edge off the trip, especially as the climate control in the room was temporamental. otherwise the room service was very good, although expensive. the room had all the features required and pleanty of space in the mini-suite to spread out. the restaurants in the hotel did not cater for vegetarians though. otherwise the bars and all the service personnel were very helpful and friendly and went out of their way to assist and oblige. personal assistant in the rest room a nice touch. excellent location in which to explore all of the major manhatten attractions, which were not too busy at that time of year, and the flights (1st class) with virgin atlantic were very reasonable at that time of year if booked in advance, as was the room. be careful with the mini-bar and tea/coffee making facilities as they soon mount up in cost. overall, a memorable trip, staying in a comfortable and classy hotel, which whilst not perfect, was well worth it and we had a great time in the big apple.
