Good basic hotel -- treats you well

This property needs some renovation -- getting that older smell and look, but still a pretty good bargain for business travel. I've stayed here about 6 times in past 2 years on business at the Federal Aviation Administration's Technical Center just up the road from this. Rooms were decent size for money, all expected amenities were provided. Desk service was friendly and helpful. Morning breakfast of muffins and such is adequate and as advertised -- not the Ritz, but they don't claim to be. Recommended for a couple nights for quiet and convenience.

Really well managed, great place to stay

The rooms were large, immaculate and well appointed with quality furnishings and bedding. Much better than we expected as we were just looking for an inexpensive room for a night on our way through. Front desk was efficient though not like more expensive hotels we usually go to. Breakfast was pre-cooked microwave, but was surprisingly very good quality. Great coffee bar for free around the clock. Only neg is location -- kind of hidden behind restaurant, we made wrong turn and almost ended up leaving town. Figured it out quickly though and we were happy with our choice. Much better than average and better than expected for price. We'll try more of these and avoid the Embassy Suites Hotels that are going down hill fast.

What happened to this place?

I stayed here several times in the past, but have been away a year and a-half and all I can say is "what the heck happened? Front desk is pretty good, otherwise staff and service are abominable. The new restaurant manager is a tyrant who cares nothing for guests or golfers, food quality was lower than a typical Denny's. Bell service was apparently expecting to be tipped before service because they did nothing until they saw cash flashed.

I usual stay in a corner suite, but this time decided to go with a King Suite and save $10 a night -- should have known better -- the king suite is the smallest I have seen and I've stayed in over 100 suite hotels the past 3 or 4 years.
