A great place for a wedding

I was a little skeptical at first whether we should have our wedding at this hotel. It wasn't as big and grand of a hotel that I imagined having my wedding at but I decided to give it a chance since it was a choice between the Holiday Inn or Sheraton. They were the only two in all of Montreal that accepted outside catering which we needed for our Indian/Pakistani cusine.

Even though the outside didn't look grand or big (about 11/12 stories) the inside was very posh and elegant. They had recently remodled and built big beautiful Banquet halls with gorgeous chandelier's. The lobby and enterance were gorgeous as well with cherry wood furniture and a grand winding staircase. They had a great steakhouse restaurant with a beautiful entrance as well. All of these made great picture backgrounds for our wedding pictures that our photographer took. The night out our wedding we both separately entered in the banquet hall which a beautiful walk especially having a traditional dholki(drumlike) player leading us in the hall. The setup was beautiful and the hotel really helped and worked with us with everything we needed (chairs/tables/arrangements). The also had a mini waterpark/pool which was something I have never seen in a hotel before.

The entrance to the hotel was curved and big for our white limo that brought us there.

We had a grand suite on the top floor which was really nice. There was a table, two sofa's, a big screen tv in a big armoire. It had a small like kitchen on the side. There was a big king size comfortable bed with a big bathroom. Since it was were we had our wedding it made everything seem more magical and beautiful. The hotel ended up looking as grand and amazing as I imagined.

Awesome resort

This Resort was the best hotel I have stayed at during my lifetime so far! It was our honeymoon in Aruba and the best part that we loved about it was that it inside the hotel lobby there was a boat that took you to it's own 40 acre private island. There are two sides to the island as well. One side was for families and the other was for newlywed/couples. The island had gorgeous pink flamingos roaming around and an iguana on the side where you could touch it and take photos. We even went kayaking on the private island which was an experience in itself. Also we were not in the commercial area of the island which made it nice and private. We were not to far from the commericial area so we were able to check it out but preferred the private island of the Renaissance. They were nice enough to upgrade our room since it was our honeymoon. We had a beautiful ocean view from a high floor. The room was nice with a king size bed and great bathroom as well as a patio to stand out and feel the ocean breeze. We had room service which was awesome with everything we wanted! I would definitely highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Aruba!

A great place for an anniversary

Royal Kahana is 10 minutes north of kaanapali resort area and 12-15 minutes north of lahaina town. make a left from highway 30 when you see a McDonalds.

This hotel is right in front of the beach but the beach has a lot of rocks in the water and the shore is narrow. You can check out other nearby beaches such as kaanapali beach or Kapalua Bay beach which is great of snorkeling!

The lobby area is nice but a bit outdated, definitely needs upgrade, and renovation. next to the front desk there is expediafun concierge service where you can book your activities but they have a markup so do your research before booking.

We received the 12th floor ocean view studio cal. king size room. The room was approx 400-500 sq ft. We loved the room which had nice and cozy furniture (King size bed, round dinner table for 4 and 2 straw recliner chairs as well as a dresser). The kitchen is equipped with fridge, microwave and stove. With all kitchen utensils, pots and pans, blender, coffee maker, drainer etc and other small kitchen food items (salt and pepper, sugar, coffee).

The washer and dryer was nice and they offer only 1 free sample detergent packet. If you have more laundry you would have to buy another packet for $1 at the front desk.

The big downfall of this room was the bathroom which was unappealing because of the chipped paint and mildew growing on the side tub walls. Housekeeping would need to scrub harder!! The shower wouldn't work to well at times.

The TV was approximately 20 inches. The funny thing they have a VCR instead of a DVD player. No joke! Lahnai had a great view of the ocean and the Maui hills very scenic! However, view may be impaired by the neighboring hotel towers pending on the floor and room location.

Housekeeping and the front desk staff were very friendly and responsive to our requests and questions. There is convenient area where you can find a mini strip mall with an outback steakhouse, seafood restaurant, Maui dive shop, coffee shop and a discount store.

Nice, but needs renovation!

We decided to stay at the JW Marriott San Francisco for our one year wedding anniversary. This hotel is only one block away from Union Square , adjacent to a night spot Ruby Skye and near the art district. The parking within the hotel is $45 overnight. However, if you go across or down the street you can find overnight public parking for $29.00.

Upon our check in, the lobby area is dark, but has a modern contemporary appeal lit by the open sky roof. We were offered a room on the 19th floor. This hotel has glass elevators that allow you to view the atrium as you go up to your room.

We checked in the room and we were disappointed by the stains on the wall and outdated furniture which was severely chipped and scratched. We called the front desk from the room to change rooms. Thankfully they were responsive to offer us a upgraded room which was a bit more spacious and nicer updated bathrooms, however the furniture inside this room was again outdated but not as bad as our first room. The bed was very a comfortable king size and we specifically requested non-feathered pillows.

I was impressed by the room’s elegant marble style bathroom which offers separate shower stall and separate bathtub plus a small TV while you soak in the tub. The hotel boasts about having an LCD flat panel TV for the room but they are simple low resolution Gateway brand of 17 or 20’ monitor.

My favorite part of the room was the views from the 19th floor offering great views of the San Francisco rooftops, Golden Gate bridge towers, and Twin Peaks mountains.

I was glad that I picked the higher floor rooms because get pretty noisy at night with the police sirens or street noise. We ordered room service for breakfast the next day for 2 people the bill came up to $50 pretty steep for just a breakfast.

They did explain that they were undergoing some changes due to new management so hopefully they will be upgrading their furniture.

Overall, I would give this hotel a rating of 7.5 out of 10.
