adorable inn, but not very hospitable
Very gorgeous historic house located in downtown Cathlamet. I suspect it was much more cordial and hospitable in its days as a bed and breakfast, but it maintains a romantic atmosphere. I would recommend this only to those that stay up late and can entertain themselves. The old house is very conducive for the traveling of sound through the floorboards and vents, which may make sleep difficult for some. The rooms are exquisitely decorated and are very charming with large comfortable beds and antique furniture (as an old inn should have). I was disappointed with my stay because the inn no longer functions as a bed and breakfast and the owners don't seem to have their heart into hosting anymore...the property is for sale and they cook their meals in the house to seemingly torment the boarders, which must eat at one of the neighboring mediocre restaurants. The staff was nice enough, but I was warned I would be charged for leaving any of the lights on when I went out. I appreciate that they are conserving energy, but as a guest I expect not to be patronized. Needless to say, I did not feel welcome at this small inn. The settings seem far too intimate to simply board a room, unless a room is all you seek. Just don't forget to turn off the lights!
