Lack of customer service
The hotel was very nice and our room was clean. Within a few days of returning home from our trip though one of my room mates became seriously ill and was hospitalized with Legionnaire's Disease. I immediately called the hotel just as a "heads up" to them, but the person who returned my call was young and clearly had never even heard of Legionnaire's (I even had to spell it for him). I acknowledged that there's no guarantee that she picked up the bacteria at the hotel, but as a precaution I hoped they would do a thorough check of the air conditioning system. Since he didn't seem to take it seriously I also e-mailed the information to Marriott Corporate Headquarters, but did not receive a response. Legionnaire's can have a mortality rate of as high as 30% if not quickly diagnosed and I think it's too big of a health risk for a major chain like Marriott to just blow off. It would have been nice to have at least received the courtesy of an acknowledgment that they received the information and were planning a thorough investigation as a precaution.
