I stayed at this hotel because I was curious to see how it really was in comparison with the other hotels in the area. It basically met my expectations in offering a tranquil stay with clean, comfortable rooms. I have nothing negative to say about it except that the TV channels were too limited--20 cable channels just doesn't cut it! They had HBO, ESPN and MTV, but other than that there was nothing (not even Comedy Central). Also, I'm convinced that people in Detroit/Woodhaven must steal irons because every hotel that I stay at in the area has their irons chained to the ironing board! On another note, the staff and the bar is pretty inviting. I fun watching the Cavs game, listening to the singers during karyoke night, and sipping my drinks.

I stayed here for the points and based on an associate's recommendation. I wasn't expecting much when I checked into the Holiday Inn Express Woodhaven outside of the norm. However, the hotel staff was extremely frienldly and helpful. The staffed 'breakfast lady' appeared to be working hard to promote a clean lobby/eating area and to replenish the breakfast bar. They also gave out complimentary bottled water, snacks, and breath mints. On Mondays through Wednesdays, they had guest appreciation nights with a free dinner (pizza, wings, and soda pop) all on them. There was a free breakfast that was alright with the usual Holiday Inn spread.

I got the jacuzzi suite and it was pretty nice! Everything was clean and operational. The beds were soft and inviting--it felt like sleeping on cloud nine after a long day at work. The channels, though cable, seemed somwhat limited at roughly 20-25 available. I didn't mind since the only time I watched TV was when I was in the jacuzzi. On that note, the jacuzzi can get loud with the motors running with the constant bubbling of water.

There were only a few things that were slightly annoying, but not enough to affect the rating. These things were that the actual iron and mounting apparatus were attached to the ironing board therefore limiting the overall ironing space and ease of use. The second thing was that the internet was only available for one PC. I travel with two laptops; one for business and the other for personal things such as downloads, p2p, movies, games, etc. In order to use their WIRED internet, you have to enter in a special code that they give you. I used it on the business PC and found out that I could not use it on my personal laptop during that same day.

Located near I-71, the Candlewood Suites Polaris is immersed in the bustling world of Columbus, OH. Surrounded by a plethora of shops, bars, clubs, restaurants, and a shopping mall, this hotel truly offers a home away from home. I was impressed by the vibrant decor and the room format. The in-room kitchen was almost too big to be called a 'kitchenette'. I enjoyed the luxury of a full size fridge along with the dishes and dishwasher. I stayed here during a business meeting and didn't want to check out. The team that planned the layout and ammenities of this place obviously knew what they were doing--The Candlewood Suites Polaris is equipped for the long term stay!

The AmeriHost sits back a ways from the road so its pathway could be passed or overlooked easily. However, once you find it you won't be disappointed. It has all of the ammenities that you may be used to such as a minifridge, a microwave, an iron/ironing board, hairdryer, complimentary breakfast (where the waffle maker is the highlight), wireless internet, etc., etc. . The staff is friendly and very helpful--just ask for something and they'll get it for you! The bed and tv were okay, but you must check out the pool area. Bottomline, the AmeriHost Mineral Wells balances quality with price pretty well. Don't just take my word for it, see for yourself (my attached photos).
