Excellent
Royal Palm Resort Hotel Galapagos Islands
Luxury among the tortises

Nestled in the highlands of Santa Clara Island, the most populated of the Galapagos Islands, is a resort that feels like it should be in the Caribbean, with 4 room bungalows with jacuzzis and rain showers, its own lava tube, and views of the tortise nesting beaches. The food was good, the service outstanding - including their own ferry to the airport and VIP lounge at the airport, and the room a real luxury after four days on a sixteen passenger boat with low water pressure in the shower. The location is off the beaten path - a healthy trip into town, but your every need can be met by the resort.

Good
Anastasia Venice
Fantastic location, good value

The Hotel Anastasia is a relatively inexpensive, comfortable, no-frills hotel less than 100 yards from Piazza San Marco (even closer to the Vaporetto stop). It is across a little square from the Westin, and 1/3 the price. It only has about 20 rooms, not roomy [even after a cruise!] but clean and comfortable. The shower worked, there was a mini bar, and the breakfast included was more than adequate. The staff was very helpful, storing our luggage and arranging water taxis and restaurant reservations. There was an elevator.

Excellent
Sultanahmet Palace Istanbul
A hidden gem

In the shadow of the Blue Mosque, just blocks from Hagia Sophia and Topkapi is a small elegant hotel, with about thirty rooms, a terrace overlooking the Sea of Marmara and a good restaurant. The service is very personable.

Each room has a little mini-Turkish bath, a shower with a big urn to fill with water and scrub yourself. Breakfast is included, and they have a very nice buffet. Taxis, ferry schedules, and other tourist information are readily available.

Mediocre
Hilton Garden Inn Glastonbury Glastonbury, CT
Overslept

The clock radio said alarm on, and it was set for 6 am. It never went off - leaving me a bad feeling and no opportunity to try the breakfast.
