58 year old female with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

Called to make a reservation for a room and was undecided because the ocean view rooms were taken. Woman said the available room had a little ocean view and mts. She said if you are here by 7 you can have the room but after 7 she would rent it out. She took my last name only. I loved this service! My husband and I got there at 7 and the room was available and we liked it. The bed was comfy, pillows were not the best. Bathroom was small, lots of hot water, front door needed to be repaired, paint missing, furniture was nice, privacy was good. No T.V. (probably better for us). The price? We paid for the view which was spectacular!!! Walk way leads to high mt. and view above cottages, very conveniently located where we sighted a whale! The restaurant was cozy, the waitress was on it but not overly attentive and the food was delicious! My husband and I ate everything and had dessert too!!! The coffee in the morning was some of the best I have tasted in a long time and the complimentary breakfast was very good. We enjoyed conversation with other guests of the lodge which was really fun too, sort of like a bed and breakfast! The power went off and on but this was at bedtime, about 10:00 so we just went to bed anyway. It didn't bother me but seemed to bother my husband who has an electrical background and would have gladly helped the owner trouble shoot. Lucia Lodge is off the grid. That's pretty charming in itself! I really loved the place. There were beautiful flowers blooming around the hillside and yards. There was some landscaping fencing and a small pile of pulled up plants and weeds that shouldn't be allowed to sit around that needed to be removed in the front of the cottage sort of hidden. Parking was very good at the cottages and restaurant.

I am very likely to return to the Lucia Lodge.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

46 year old male with a economy budget, traveling for leisure

Stayed 3/11-3/13/08 in room #10. Great bed and bedding; nice seating area; cute gas stove. Tiny tacky bathroom/shower; tacky sofa cover; cheap blinds... No cobwebs, spiders or dirt. Based on other reviews, the room did not surprise me, thou shower was really marginal; so were blinds, lights.

Important to know 10 thru 7 have best location, all along a row. Rooms 5&6 are perpendicular and face parking lot, not ocean. Rooms 4 thru 1 face ocean and parking lot. Can't comment on 1-6 very well beyond that. Seems to me 8&9 are very close to 10 in view. 7 also, but it does adjoin the parking area.

Service was just fine; really friendly people, esp the lunch crew.

Huge Downside: the dinner menu/food is awful. They have award winning fish&chips--get them. But u can't have them for dinner. The website and printed brochure says u can, but the waitress says "we turn off the fryer at 4:30". Not listed on the menu. So we ordered blackened cod, and broiled cod. Other choices were mostly cream sauces. Both our meals were horrible. Think bad hospital food. No seasoning-none- over cooked, tasteless fish. 2 spears of broccoli and some carrots (not soggy, the only rookie mistake they avoided, but tasteless too. Entrees were $25 and up. Beers $5.50. So $100 for absolutely horrible food; I would have happily paid the outrageous $100 for fish/chips, but u can't get them for dinner.

Do not eat dinner there. Just don't do it. You'll regret it. I promise. And if u have bad food somewhere else, just tell yourself, "well, we tried". Got a local recommendation for River Inn but couldn't try it... maybe 20 miles North... saw it.. looked like a great vibe.

The view from room 10 is great, thou none face west, so u have to go out to see sunset. Sound of surf at night was awesome. They have a bluff behind the cabins, w/ winding path, benches at the top. Nice, very nice. Flashlight; wine glasses in room.

Did I mention the dinner was horrible and over priced... It shocks me they don't address this. All those cars u see there... they're British tourists... lovely people who've endured bad food for centuries... demand more... if u stay there, leave for dinner, or eat something good in your room... pretzels come to mind.

I am somewhat likely to return to the Lucia Lodge.
I might recommend it to friends.

40 year old female with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

We stayed 1 night in the honeymoon cottage. It was way over priced but kind of cute in a very bare bones kind of way.

The food in the restaurant was awful. Again it was very over priced & very poor quality ingredients. The food tasted old & freezer burned & was indifferently prepared.

The view was spectacular, & the stars at night were almost worth the price.

I am not likely to return to the Lucia Lodge.
I would not recommend it to friends.

The views are spectacular from Lucia Lodge, there's no denying it. Only my boyfriend and I thought the accommodations would be a little more comfortable and cute rather than rustic and old. The bathroom was a joke. It was very small and the shower floor felt very flimsy like it would punch through when you stood in it. The bed was sunken in the middle and the walls were very thin.

In the middle of the night I heard animal noises outside the window (probably a raccoon?) and then we heard what I'd imagine were rats scampering on the roof. My boyfriend was also kind enough to kill the big black furry bug crawling on the wall before bedtime too. I've never been more nervous to get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. I thought something might bite my feet on the way.

If you can look at it like your camping, then Lucia Lodge is okay. You might be better off pitching a tent nearby though.

I am not likely to return to the Lucia Lodge.
