34 year old female with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

We recently stayed at the Zanzibar Palace Hotel in Stone Town for 3 nights and can not recommend it highly enough.

They greeted us as we arrived and took the time to sit down and advise us where to visit and the restaurants to eat at. The recommendation of Beyt Al Chai (??) was fabulous,in fact we ate there twice as the prawns where so delicious!

The rooms at the hotel are lovely, exceeding the web site photo's, the bath tub in our room (The Sultana) was huge and came with not only bubble bath but even scented massage oils for a totally luxurious stay. They even thought to have 2 hot water systems so there was more than enough hot water to fill the big bath!

The balcony overlooked the street where you could sit in the mornings with your coffee and cookies (brought to your room whenever you asked) and watch the town waking up.amazing passionfruit and avocado juice, yum!

Breakfast was delicious, especially the recommended a beach not far from the hotel which was beautiful, it turned out it belonged to another hotel and was a private beach which you could use if you had lunch (a great seafood bbq!) there are sunloungers on the white sands and the water is as warm as a bath. They had supplied us with beach towels too!

All in all, if you are in Stone Town (and you really should visit if you have the chance!) then do stay here, you will be more than pleased that you did!

I loved my stay at this beautiful, unique hotel. It had lovely Zanzibar furnishings in a spacious room. Very comfortable. The owners make you feel like you are a guest in their own home. The staff is charming, friendly and always ready to look after you. I loved receiving a coffee tray with a sweet delivered to my room at 7:00 a.m. Breakfast was from 8 - 10 and was delicious. The chef is excellent and I was reluctant to dine outside the hotel as I looked forward to her creative dinners. Another staff member was helpful above and beyond the call of duty...he took me personally to a travel agent to book a Safari and another time to Kenya Airways to straighten out a ticket problem. He booked tours and transfers to and from the airport that made everything easy and stress free. The hotel is situated in the heart of Stonetown and everything is in walking distance. My stay in Zanzibar would not have been so enjoyable if I had not had the good fortune to stay at this beautiful hotel with these lovely owners.

It was wonderful. I don't think I could've found a better option. Everything about the hotel is memorable, and yes, it was as nice as the photos in their amazing website.

The location is right in Stone Town but it's not quite in the middle of it, which is better. It's about 10-15 min walk to the shops and 5 min walk to the water. There are a couple nice restaurants along the water, but if you stay there, make sure to have dinner once at the hotel. The chefs will come up with something spectacular for you.

Our room was great. We were on the top floor, which is about one level higher than the rest of Stone Town. So you'll get to see over the rooftops of Stone Town all the way to the ocean. Another nice thing about being that high is, you're above the noise and the dust of Stone Town.

They know everything about anything that you could possibly need and want to see, that you don't even need to plan much in advance if you're in Zanzibar for the first time, like I was.

The only thing about staying in Stone Town, occassional noise gets carried through. But fortunately it has nothing to do with Zanzibar Palace. I highly recommend you to stay here if you're looking for an authentic experience.

I am very likely to return to the Zanzibar Palace Hotel.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.
