York Hotel

Quite simply a disaster from the getgo. Fawlty Towers has nothing on this establishment. The only thing I didn't see was Manuel's pet hamster. (but then what ever that smell in restaurant was I am not so sure?

Ok here it goes.

1.Check-in was rude, arrogant (talking under breath between staff in non english).

2. To get to lift lobby you have to walk through restaurant areas with all and sundry leering, as about as undignified and welcoming as D grade hooker hotel in Vegas.

3. The smell eminating from eating area was akin to a 3 day old fish market, it was enough to make you dry reach and was a topic of converation with any other guest in lifts.

4. Oh the room, the 'HOLLYWOOD SUITE'. What a joke. Two mismatched single beds differentiating in height by 4 inches pushed together. The room stank.

5. Ok, so I requested to be moved. Granted by some poor guy trying his best. Result? A room that was bigger but looked like had been refinished by a troupe of gibbons after seven gin slings. The windows were tinted with film that was all bubbled and milky allowing a wonderful poolside view of the service tower. NICE!

All in all, if you want to enjoy Singapore... DO NOT STAY at the YORK.

But the Botanic gardens are wonderful!
