35 year old male with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
The Wyndham was chosen for me by Priceline (I bid on available 2 ½ star properties), and while I only paid $53.25 including taxes for a Saturday night stay, I regret the purchase.
The good points include the following: a great south-suburban Overland Park/Kansas City location, with direct access to I-435, Overland Park convention center, and major shopping areas and restaurants within one mile/five minutes; friendly front office staff, and regular nightly rates are comparatively cheap. The room was nicely furnished, with updated carpets, bedspreads, and a Herman Miller Aeron chair (a pleasant surprise). The white sheets appeared to be clean.
The bad points include the following: a smoky main lobby at check-in (I cant remember ever smelling smoke in a lobby of a hotel and doesnt the city have a no smoking in public spaces policy?); fresh vomit on the carpet on the way to our room (Was the person sick? Drunk? Stoned? Probably not fair to mention, but it did add to my negative experience); the hallways and my room walls were well scuffed from guest use/abuse; four large (oil?) stains on the room carpet; porcelain tub needed to be resurfaced (brown/black spots on bottom and tub no longer smooth to the touch); folks yelling outside of my window at midnight? Yes, the hotel was close to full, but shouting matches detract from the experience.
The bottom line is that this property is well-overdue for an upgrade and should be skipped for one of the 10+ properties within a mile of this Wyndham, unless your budget forces you to stay here.

I stayed for 5 nights at this facility. My room had a spider, ants, the 'free' internet access cost $9.95 a day, the breakfast buffet was $10, and the staff could have been much friendlier.
