Wingate by Wyndham

I have stayed at this hotel several times in the past while on business, and have always been pleased with it. Not after 6/10/2008 though, when I found myself locked in the bathroom of Room 205 for approximately 75 minutes due to an improperly installed door handle (lock on the outside). I know, it sounds unbelievable, but it actually happened - the photo below shows the lock and the damage done to the door in order to get me out. When I didn't show up for dinner, a coworker came looking for me and I was able to yell out my predicament. Two members of the hotel staff then came into my room and all but broke down the bathroom door, which would not open from the outside either. At that point I was offered another room, which I took; however, I was never offered so much as an apology and absolutely no attempt was made to make the situation right, despite the "100% Guarantee" touted on the comment card (which I wasted my time filling out and returning to the front desk). The front desk staff is friendly, but management is all but non-existent. I will make other arrangements the next time I'm in Harrisburg.

The pillows were flat and lumpy. The sheets were very wrinkled and looked like they had been slept in. The shower stall was dirty and the shower curtain moldy. The phone system wasn't working so I missed an important call.

They charged me more than the rate I had confirmed online. And though I lodged a complaint at check-out, and through several subsequent emails to the front office manager and the general manager, I have still received no response. And yet they promote a 100% guarantee on their rooms.

I was pleasantly surprised at the large room, beds, bathroom, and the many amenities available in our room such as the TV and the Lazy Boy chair. For the price I felt the value was reasonable. It was more than I had wanted to spend this trip for a hotel room but I felt that I got what I paid for. I will definitely stay there again if in the area.

This hotel made me feel content: I enjoyed the home like atmosphere of the room.

I really enjoyed Wingate. It has a wonderful and very helpful staff. It provides a lot of value for the money.

This inn is easily accessible. I would recommend it to others.
