WOULD NEVER GO BACK – Posted Jan 26, 2009

Horrible

FOR THOSE WHO BOOK ONLINE BEWARE!!! FAR FROM ATTRACTIONS and UNATTENTIVE STAFF.

Upon arrival, The Bible was opened to a passage, which should give anyone visiting Lancaster county the tip off that they are vacationing in a staunchly...

Not what it once was – Posted Oct 20, 2008

Mediocre

Our room was in serious need of updating. Ceiling was falling down in entrance way, the room was filled with bugs and the smell of raw sewage from the sink made brushing your teeth in the morning a near nauseating experience. The buffet was great if ...

32 Years in a row and may be the last – Posted Oct 20, 2008

Mediocre

Our family has gone to this resort every October since 1976. In recent years, we had seen a decline in quality, but this year was by far the worst, and a deal breaker for future visits. We stayed in the South building. We shared our room with an...

Been going there for over 35 years! – Posted Aug 26, 2008

Good
with a budget, traveling for leisure

I have visited Willow Valley at least one vacation a year for over 35 years.

At first as a teen with my parents and siblings, and then with my wife and our family.

So my review is biased in that Willow Valley holds a lot of memories for me.

I can tell you the best time to visit is the winter. The indoor pools and hot tubs are so much more pleasant then. The kids and you will appreciate it when its cold outside. It breaks up the cabin fever.

The rates are way cheaper in the winter as well.

We rarely do the smorgasborg dinner. Its a bit expensive and just too much food. We do love the breakfast smorgasborg though. For dinner I typically run down the road to the Chinese restaurant next to the K-Mart at Kendig Square. My wife and I have six kids, and I can get all we will eat for less than $25 at the Golden Wall. Its GOOD chinese food and the kids can stay in their swim suits and eat at a table by the pool.

If its at all possible for your plans, go in the winter, and stay between Sunday and Thursday nights. We have gone every year in early December for 28 years and when we could stay during the week we get a poolview room by the central pool. We often literally have the whole area to ourselves.

Just my family and we have the pool, hot tub, ping pong table, shuffleboard, etc all to ourselves. Maybe just a couple people wandering in now and then.

We spend the whole day by the pool. Its great. A few times we got snow and it was really nice swimming and relaxing in the hot tub as snow was falling.

Stay in a newly rennovated room! – Posted Aug 10, 2008

Okay

We stayed at the Willow Valley in August, 2008. Many areas of the hotel have been rennovated, but unfortunately our room wasn't in one of these areas.

The first thing we noticed was that our room smelled a little like a locker room, so...

Nice hotel, little over priced – Posted Aug 09, 2008

Mediocre

I just recently returned from a two night stay at Willow Valley. We booked the Family suite in center Building. The room was more than we expected after looking at the online pictures and reviews. We were pleasently suprised. Everything was new...

kids loved it... – Posted Jul 31, 2008

Good
35 year old female with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

The room was clean and the kids had a great time in the pools. Although in the evening i overheard the front staff making crude jokes about the poor quality of the pool water. They were using bathroom language and were very unprofessional. I also approached the front staff to ask about various local attractions and was told..." i have been dying to tell someone, no you may not ask me a question..." I had to take a deep breath and nicely ask my question anyway.

The kids enjoyed the food, we thought it was just okay. WE loved the corn maze and the outdoor movie was great and very relaxing for all ages. Overall, the kids had a good time and that is what was important to us.

nice heated indoor waterpark for small kids, and nice pool for adults as well. delicious breakfast, not impressed with their dinner menu. nice location- close to the train rides, amish country. the free lancaster tour was unfortunately offered only once or twice a week.

Horrible

Where to start. Ceiling tiles in bathrooms were stained and molding. Thread count on sheets way too low. I've had better food at a prison buffet. Staff needs to be trained in food safety. I was concerned to feed my kids under temp'd...

Rude staff/Renovation too out !! – Posted May 08, 2008

Horrible

This was the worst stay we have ever had in a hotel. The renovation that was going on was terrible. The banging that was going on was very annoying and disturbing when you are on vacation. We called the desk and they would not move us; but were...
