We had booked 2 nights but we stayed an extra night because it was great. It is located just over a sand dune from the Gulf. The beach is wide and covered in shells. This was the first time we have been to Sanibel. It was really neat. The ocean ...

Good

we enjoyed staying here, the room amenities are good for families the only suggestion I have it that they should update the rooms.

The pool and bar was great and the beach was right there.

We would go back again.

What a great place! – Posted Nov 06, 2007

Wonderful classy, classic Old Florida resort ... Sparkling big pool with a bar/food service poolside, nice little gift shop. Rooms nicely sized with everything you could ask for, and immaculate! Excellent quality linens and toiletries. I can't imagine staying anywhere else on future trips to Sanibel. The only very minor complaint I had was that they had those mattress pads that slip and slide under the sheet a bit; they should go to the fitted ones. The beach is fantastic, some of the best shelling on Sanibel right there.

Wonderful place ... very convenient for short drive or bike ride to restaurants and shops.

Wonderful, family run hotel – Posted Jul 22, 2007

This was a very nice, well kept hotel. The people at the desk were friendly and helpful. We were told that they remodel different sections of rooms every year. (Our bathroom had granite countertops). Just after checking in we decided to add another night to our stay. Our room was not available for the extra night so the hotel upgraded us to a room with a full kitchen and an awesome view of the Gulf (from our screened in lanai) for the same price. They also gave us a complimentary bottle of wine when we mentioned we were celebrating my husband's 50th birthday, our 25th anniversary and our daughter's high school graduation. The day before our departure we needed to check in with our airline and print our boarding passes. The front desk was busy but within minutes, we received a call that it was all done. The prices in the gift shop were reasonable and the prices in the restaurant were also, though it was only open for breakfast and lunch. We were able to get frozen drinks at the pool bar and order lunch to eat around the pool. My only complaints...the bed size - our room had two double beds. If you want a queen, I think you get only one bed. I also would have liked a complimentary continental breakfast because it saves time and money in the morning and to have the restaurant open for late dinner because of late check-ins. Aside from these minor complaints, we would definitely stay in this hotel again!

My husband and I stayed at the West Wind for the weekend from June 21-23, 2007. We did not want to leave. The hotel was quiet the pool area was clean and the pool was always the right temperature. The beach is right there and you can alternate your time between the beach and the pool. Also you can rent chairs from the gift shop on the property. The hotel was not the newest hotel but it fit the purpose of a weekend getaway and it was clean. We stayed in room 131, and after looking at the website I read that there were newer rooms for a small extra fee. We plan on going in again to the West Wind Inn in a couple of weeks just to get away. The rates aren't bad and it lets you spend more money on food at the many great restaurants. (The hotel room has a book that has menus of most of the local restaurants to include prices.)

My wife and I stayed at the Westwinds from 10/15/06 to 10/21/06. What a wonderful time we had. The rooms were spotless, recently remodeled, had a large 30" TV, and the pool was wonderful. The staff was courteous and efficient. This was our second year to stay here and it was better than last year. We can't wait for next year.
