Westin Chicago Northwest Hotel - Page 1

First I want to say the hotel staff were all unfailingly polite and helpful. Couldn't ask for better. But, the design of the property leads to incredible noise echoing around the atrium into the rooms. When the bar is full with its open top the noise is over the top. Then, there is The Tent. This is literally a tent-like structure in back of the hotel, about 20 yards out. Be sure to check on weekends to see if there is going to be any kind of wedding or other event with loud music until late at night. Because if there is you won't be getting any sleep until very late at night. if your room is on that side of the building. We were on the 5th floor right over The Tent. The music was so loud that my daughter sang along with the songs and told me their names. When she was looking out about 11:00pm she put her hand on the window and told me it was vibrating from the bass and volume. When I went down and complained they gave my $25 off my rate, but that doesn't help when you need sleep. On top of that the noise level didn't go down one bit. Every night we stuffed the 1 inch opening at the bottom of the room door to muffle noice. Here are a couple of other quirks that don't help. The smoke alarms have a very bright flashing green light that lights up the room like a strobe light. The beautiful flat screen TV also has a bright orange light that flashes all night up the wall. The alarm clock beams across the room like a search light too.

The rooms there were very nicely done and the beds were heavenly. I stayed there for a wedding and the tent where the wedding was held was great, though a plane did fly right over us when the event was taking place. The atrium is gorgeous and the only thing that is needed is a hotel bar that stays open later than midnight.

I was traveling for pleasure and chose your hotel for it's location. What a surprise to find out that I loved every aspect of my stay. Your rooms are beautiful, Shula's restaurant and staff were wonderful and I really appreciated the fast check-in and check-out. One morning I had to call the front desk because of a small housekeeping issue and before I hung-up the phone your staff member was at my door and quickly fixed the problem. What more could you ask for. Thank you, again. I already know where I will be staying on my next trip to the Chicago area.

This location was great! It was very welcoming to our dog. The room was larger than expected and when notified of a burned out light bulb the service staff was quick to fix it. The only drawback was we were there at the time a large convention was hosted and the wait for the elevators was sometimes very long due to the number of people coming and going all at once.

This hotel made me feel welcome: The Westin hotel staff addressed our issues promptly and with courtesy. They did not act as though our requests were outrageous. They anticipated our need for dog items and they had them at the room within minutes of our arrival.

It was nice, I would stay there anytime. It’s a great value.
