55 year old with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
The staff was friendly and helpful over my three day stay. The location is fantastic. The room was very tiny and sparse, but clean. The bed had no box spring, the TV no remote, the miniature AC barely worked. The room was very clean; however, the shared bathrooms were clean upon arrival and filthy by 5:00 pm. every day. Bring your own soap and flip flops, and tissues.
But what do you want for $100 a night in Manhattan? I would definitely stay again, but would not want the "bathrooms for everyone" deal. Lots of interesting people from all nationalities and backgrounds stay at the Y. Give it a try if you are a single traveler.
