38 year old with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
The West Side YMCA, was a decent hotel to stay in, and an especially good value. However, you should take note that the rooms are very small (mine had a bunk bed, one window with blinds, a small tv with cable and a desk with accompanying chair). Hotel staff is overall pretty friendly, and you also have access to all of the workout equipment/pool. My only one major gripe with the hotel was the fact that there were no showers in the tiny rooms, but rather several (maybe 10) shower rooms on the floor. These are clean for the most part, but I would bring a pair of rubber flip-flops to wear in the shower just in case. Overall, for $30-$40 a night, the cost simply can't be beat for a traveler wanting to see the city that never sleeps on a budget.
