37 year old female with a shoestring budget, traveling for leisure

Everything was nice until I tried to go to the pool and the hot tub. The area was dirty and the water smelt.

I am somewhat likely to return to the Wayfarer Inn Convention Center Bedford.
I might recommend it to friends.

18 year old male with a economy budget, traveling for business

It is a bit difficult to find in the dark, but it is a homey, comfortable way to spend a night or two. Adding breakfast service would be a plus.

I am very likely to return to the Wayfarer Inn Convention Center Bedford.
I might recommend it to friends.

36 year old female with a economy budget, traveling for leisure

I was recently married and blocked a group of rooms for my family and out of state guests; the office staff was very helpful in putting our group together and updated me several times on the status of the group. Some of my out of town guests arrived and were able to check in early to their rooms, everything was clean and the staff was very friendly.

The continental breakfast was located in the restaurant with giant windows over looking the duck pond and patio where my nephews could go out and feed them.

After the wedding we all came back to the lounge and were able to have a quick bite to eat and drink. Our room was very spacious, clean and I loved the feeling of being wrapped up in the oversize comforter.

One thing I enjoyed most was that this is not a typical hotel with 4 white walls, there is history, character and charm. I understand it is an older property and the history is on the walls, literally.

26 year old male with a moderate budget, traveling for business

I have stayed at the Wayfarer for at least one month per year (two 2 week trips) since 2004 for business purposes. I realize this is a long review, but I have a lot of experience staying here and so have more detailed good and bad things to say about it.

The old fashioned wood walls and the sprawling layout are very charming. The dining room is classy. The rooms themselves have heavy blankets (similar to a dentists' lead x-ray vest) that really do keep you comfortable and warm during the winter. The Upper Falls rooms with a balcony facing the waterfall and duck pond have a great view. The Inn Section rooms with a 20 foot high ceiling are also great to stay in. The Bedford Section rooms in the are very poor and belong in a roadside motel. The bartenders/waitresses at Quackers remember me and are great.

However, several things have changed over time and have worsened with every visit I make. When I first started staying in 2004, the breakfast was pretty good. You had a choice of a pretty good hot breakfast menu (even though it took around 40 minutes to get your food, you couldn't stay angry at the kind and elder wait staff) and a decent free continental breakfast. The hot breakfast was soon dropped and the continental one started to go bad. Even the big bowl of melons they were serving started to be filled with bad fruit and little things here and there started disappearing (toaster, pastries, apples, water). The last time I stayed all they had was a tray with apples and coffee.

The thing that made me stay somewhere else is the bedbugs. I stayed in the Inn Section when I first noticed the small and very itchy bites on my arm. I stayed maybe one more night (doubling the bites) before I insisted on another room. They put me as far as possible (Upper Falls) and I was fine for the rest of the trip. I visited again in September 2007 and stayed on the 3rd floor of Upper Falls and got a few bites from here too. Which definitely means its spread throughout the hotel.

All of the nice things and cares about little details are completely ruined if you have bedbugs in the room. They're aware of it (they've lost my companies business) but it is still an issue after months. I realize that bedbugs have been an issue for the Manchester area for years and that they are difficult to completely get rid of. But if you are given a choice, please stay somewhere else and feel sad about a nice and pleasant hotel going to seed.

I am not likely to return to the Wayfarer Inn Convention Center Bedford.
I would not recommend it to friends.
