Waterfront Plaza Hotel

Looks nice on the website... This hotel was over priced and under equiped. I stayed a few months ago, and found that the train was quite overbearing at night. Also while i was staying my rental car was damaged and was never told so by anyone. While the staff at the front desk and valets were very curteous and helpful, when i tried to inquire about my damaged rental the upper management could not be bothered with it, and accused me of fraud. Buyer beware dont pay too much, and maybe take the train in!

The Waterfront Plaza Hotel is one of my favorites. If you select a waterfront view with balcony, you get a nice look at the estuary which is very calming. Their service is good and rooms are always very clean. I've stayed at this hotel about four times. As a woman, I feel safe in the hotel and there are many, many amenities if you want to enjoy the wonderful nightlife in a hassle-free way.

The hotel is in Jack London Square which includes several great restaurants including Scott's seafood that has a fantastic piano bar and delicious high-quality meals. The hotel itself has a lovely French-style bistro, the best jazz club in the country, Yoshi's, with outstanding performances seven days a week (Yoshi's is also a 5star Japanese restaurant).

You are steps away from a 4-plex movie theater, shopping, an outdoor market on the weekends, and if you're lucky enough to be in town on a weekend when there's a festival, your hotel is right in the middle of the action. This is the perfect hotel for the Fourth of July as you can sit on your balcony and enjoy the festivities from a perfect location. The hotel is in walking distance to downtown and Lake Merritt.

It is true that the Amtrak station is nearby, but the sound of the trains is not obnoxious. For me , the trains lull me to sleep and is a very peaceful sound. Also, in the morning are the seagulls and again, not overbearing, just a nice wake up call. I adore this hotel.

The room was spacious, the bed was comfortable. However, it was a long walk from the lobby to the room.

This hotel made me feel comfortable: The mattress was a new pillow top. It was extremely comfortable.

We were in town on business; we returned to our room at 10:30 pm to get a good night's sleep for our 7 am business meeting. We then noticed loud band music playing. At 11:00 pm the band hadn't stopped; it was so loud that we couldn't sleep. We called the front desk and we were told that the band should be ending soon. We called again at 11:30 pm and were told the same thing. We called the yet again at 12:00 am and were told that the band would finish "very soon". At 12:25 am, we called again. The music stopped at 12:26 am. But, at 12:27 am the band started up again!

We called the front desk and let them know that we'd not been told about a band playing late upon check-in and that we needed to get up early on business. We were moved to a new room at 1:25 am. After packing and unpacking, we were finally able to get to sleep at about 3:00 am.

The next night we arrived back in our room at about 10:30 pm as we had a business meeting in the morning and needed some shut-eye. We were just drifting off when noise started coming from directly above us. This noise continued for an hour; we called the front desk and were told that they'd check it out. At 12:00 am the noise was still non-stop so we called the front desk. We were then told that there was nothing further that the front desk could do about the noise. We endured another night with no sleep.

We met with the manager and told him the issues that we'd had with our hotel rooms; He told us that he really didn't feel like doing anything to rectify the negative situation. Great customer service, huh? Above and beyond our above experience, be aware that this hotel is right next to the train tracks and that trains go by at all hours and blast their whistles several times! What a disappointment.

The hotel restaurant cooked its rotisserie chicken and pork ribs at the same time which caused the chicken to taste like pork which was quite disgusting.

This hotel made me feel welcome: The staff was quite nice and responsive.
