The location is about the only thing the hotel has going for it. Everything was either broken or needed repaired/replaced. Front desk staff not accommodating. Restaurant staff was the second best thing for the hotel. Would not recommend to anyone.

BAD:

This hotel is in dire need of a revamp, it feels like no money has been spent on it for years and years.

Our non-smoking room has massive burn holes in the carpet, damaged furniture with drawers screwed shut, and the TV's volume could not be reduced to a "normal" level.

The room keys did not work due to a fault.

The decor is terrible and stuck in the 70's.

Every time I used the restaurant the staff were rude and very grumpy.

Walking down to the mall is easy, returning up the hill after a long day walking around is not so easy, so it is almost in a good location.

GOOD:

The reception staff and maids all do a good job.

We had an excellent view from the room window.

SUMMARY:

Pick another hotel it can't be any worse, I will NEVER stay here again.

Could never find the ice machine. No free coffee in the morning--nothing's free. Pool was supposed to be open by May but it was a deep shade of emerald green (a cover would be nice during cold months). Too far from restaurants. Too far from tourist attractions to be walkable, really. No tub in our room--just a tiny shower stall. Too many scuffs and stains on walls. 3.5 five inch width baseboard tiles were missing from the bathroom floorboard area. Hardware was missing from the chest of drawers (handles). Shabby toilet paper roll attachment (badly seated screws--wrong kind of screws). 2 TV channels almost do not come in. No exhaust fan in the bathroom. One door hinge was rising up and out. Carpet frayed at the edges in several places. Rather tiny TV set in this day and age--19 inch I think. Two big stains on the chair. Curtains were falling off mounting in one place. No and I mean zero room decor. The bed was the best thing about this room--it was quite good. The maids and doormen were really nice but the guys at the front desk were snobby for some reason. Worst, our plane was delayed due to engine fire--couldn't make the first night and we called ahead, yet we got charged for that night anyway. Such nice people. Note that this is an old hotel in a late 60s or early 70s form. At this time, they're attempting to present it as really posh and "mod". Not quite. Terrible place for couple--they clearly make their money on big, noisy conventions. Overall, C or D in my book. I've had much better stays in low end motels along the highway.

The condition of the facility was very poor, it's in need of upgrades. The bathroom tile had several cracks, and the hallway was dingy. The room was very small, it hardly had enough room to get by the bed and the bureau.

I am not likely to return to the Washington Plaza Hotel.
I would not recommend it to friends.

I think our room was freshly painted 30 minutes before we arrived. The paint fumes were horrible. The room was also hot from the sun shining through the windows and the front desk told us they did not turn the air conditioning on until April 1. We were there March 26 - 28. They told us to open the windows, which was a joke. Each window opened 6 inches. We've stayed in many hotels, but this one was the worst. The entire building needs major remodeling!
