44 year old with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure
Within walking distance of the zoo, family-friendly eateries, and the metro. Had a great view of the Capitol and the Washington Monument.
Room was spacious. Beds were comfortable and room/bathroom were clean. We were in the older part of the hotel - the charm came with some challenges, most significantly a lack of water two mornings in a row. The hotel comped one night and was quick to remedy the situation the next morning once notified.
Pool situation in a garden setting...nice place to hang out while the kids splash about. Wished there was a hot tub, though.
Eating in the hotel is pricey and the service leaves something to be desired (especially in the Pub). Stone's Throw breakfast was a good value with cordial service, but the Market gets expensive when getting a piece of fruit, a bagel, and a drink for each member of the family. However the room had a refrigerator and a number of "to go" services by local restaurants and a few stores with on-the-go food selections that we stocked up on.
All-in-all, it was a good "home-base" for our visit to DC.
