W New York Union Square Hotel

The hotel was too loud; they blast bad techno muzak 24/7 in the lobby. Seriously, if you need to wait for someone in the lobby at 7:30AM you get to listen to loud club music.

The hotel was too dark; the lobby and hallways were dark. In fact the halls were disturbingly dark - they look gloomy and depressing. The rooms, where you could control the light, were also dark because of all the dark heavy slightly shabby decor. I guess this is the biggest complaint about all the W's.

Supposedly Underbar is supposed to be a hip nightclub, and I will say, it was filled with every bar cliche on the east coast.

The overall feel of the hotel bar, lobby and restaurant is Miami ca. 1987. If Don Johnson walked around the corner wearing a pink blazer I would not be surprised. Really amazingly over-the-top hilariously bad decor.

Great hotel and excellent front desk staff. We stayed here for a month and didn't want to leave. A little overpriced, but what isn't in NYC? Laundry service is fast and well-done (but again, expensive).
