35 year old female with a luxury budget, traveling for business
The hotel is very stylish, however that seems to translate into tiny, dark rooms. My room had a queen bed and two windows. There was about 12 inches of space between the foot of the mattress and the opposite wall. All lighting was indirect, which made it very very dark.
Cons: Only analog reception on TV, incredibly small room and tiny bathroom, pathetically dark lighting - even in bathroom, and I foolishly left my DVD collection at home, so I wasn't able to use the DVD player.

37 year old female with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
Absolutely disappointing - we were booked into a too-small room that would have created a fire hazard had the rollaway been set up - the only space for it would have blocked the door and the bathroom. We got upgraded after complaining (albeit they were not gracious about it) and our new room was bigger, but the bathroom was dirty and the shower floor was a scary sight. When we left we had valet'ed our car; it came back foul-smelling and with the radio station changed, and the volume turned way up. I did take the time to write all this to the General Manager, and received a canned "oh, sorry" in return - no phone call, no discussion - so basically if you have complaints, or you take the time to let them know how they can improve their service, don't bother - it won't get you anywhere. This hotel is way more concerned about being a place to be seen than providing quality service. The public spaces are lovely, so if you don't mind horrible facilities and service, this is the place for you.

Okay
While this hotel was not awful, it by no means compares to other W hotels or similar boutique hotel brands. When I first read other traveler reviews, I suspected that perhaps those travelers had not know what to expect from NYC hotels, where it is...
