This hotel is not all it positions itself to be. First, when I arrived, at 6:30 PM, my room was not ready. I spent more than 30 minutes standing in the too hot to breath "lobby" waiting to check in while a giggling girl kept messing up my check-in. After trying no less than three rooms, she finally found one that was ready. When I got up to the room I wondered what "ready" actually meant. The room has stained, nasty, sticky carpet; the sheets had a stray hair or two on the part folded down, and the bathroom didn't look like it had been cleaned. Because it is a convention week, I have been toughing it out and not attempting to try to find a different/better hotel than this one. The iron didn't work; I ordered coffee and it took 40 minutes, then the wrong tray was delivered; the water costs $6.00!!!!; there is no hotel shuttle/transportation. I truly do not get the truth in the "whatever/whenever" motto. It is a farce. There is loud club music playin every night in a courtyard behind the room - it starts in the morning and thumps until well past bed-time. It is far too dark in the hallways and it smells like F-U-N-K. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to my worst enemy.
The W Hotel in the French Quarter was a wonderful choice for me and my husband. The courtyard is simply amazing and very relaxing. The staff was super friendly and very helpful. The ambassador at the front desk even gave us a better room than we...
I recently stayed at The W by information from a friend while on business and was overwhelmed with the hotel. From the staff, atmopshere and the location to everything in New Orleans was great. I felt safe in the area at night. Planning on going back with wife for Christmas.

Good
We just wanted a few days away and used our points for the stay. The location is great for getting around the French Quarter. We walked everywhere we wanted to go and Bourbon Street was really close.
The room wasn't one of the nicest we've stayed...

My fiancee and I just returned from New Orleans. We spent two nights at the W French Quarter and one night at a B&B. The whole time at the B&B we wished we were back at the W. Both of us have traveled around the world and felt that the hotel and the staff were absolutely amazing. I highly recommend getting the room with the hot tub out back, for an extra hundred dollars it is well worth it. Nothing is better than walking around the beautiful city of New Orleans, eating and a delicious retaurant for dinner and returning to soak in a hot tub in a gorgeous courtyard.
The staff was so great. At one point in the trip my fiancee hurt his knee on a walking tour, when I called to see if the front desk knew of a doctor they fell over themselves with concern.
They offered to pick us up, or head to the drug store if we needed anything.
The service was so great we are already talking about returning before the end of the summer season.
I stayed at this hotel during the July 2007 Essence Festival and I've already re-booked for this year. The rooms are small, but well appointed and the decor is chic and trendy - like most W hotels. This property is smaller than the larger W...

We ordered room service for breakfast twice and we never received it. Finally we were offered a complimentary great breakfast the second day, but it arrived an hour late. The server of the food told us we never ordered it. That was very insulting. Other than that the facilities and the location were spectacular as was the rest of the staff.
The elevator needed your room key to get up to the room level. There was always a big security guard out front.
I am very likely
to return to the W New Orleans - French Quarter.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

The front desk was slow and inefficient, but worst of all, they were rude. It was clear on check in that there was a problem with one of the computers, but rather than explain to the guests waiting to check in that there was a problem and we would be attended to shortly, we were all ignored. My husband and I are Starwood preferred guests and we have stayed in many Starwood hotels around the world. Even when something goes wrong, which is rare, the staff is always pleasant and ready to accommodate. That is why we spend so much money to stay in these hotels, we just want our trip to go smoothly, so we pay to make that happen. That was not the case with the W French Quarter hotel. There were two gentlemen who were extremely nice, but the circumstances under which we encountered them were less than desirable. The TV in our bedroom kept malfunctioning and we asked several times for an engineer to come up and fix it. Because we did not want to wait around all day waiting, the engineer just came up, turned the TV on and left. We called again, asking them to leave us instructions on how to work the TV if they could not come in a timely manner. Again, the engineer came up while we were gone, turned on the TV and left. Finally, we waited, and the entire TV needed to be replaced, and the two very nice men were in our room for over six hours! We had no privacy and it was very upsetting.
I am somewhat likely
to return to the W New Orleans - French Quarter.
I might recommend it to friends.
