Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach is renowned for it's ample beach with white sand and warm tropical waters. It is Grand Bahama Island's only all-inclusive resort. It is an adventure paradise offering the best in snorkeling, diving, sunset cruising and exciting nightlife. The resort has 276 ocean or garden view rooms, 2 restaurants, 3 bars, a disco, an invigorating activities program, a kid's club, junior's program and gym.

How disgusting. I went to the resort February 8th, 2010. The main diningroom has no screening at the roof line. Birds came into the diningroom. Perched on the beams, pooped and flew thru out the room- about 20-30 of them. They Ate off the buffet, swoomed down at our table and took our food. I complained to the Manager and his respond "It is the Islands". Birds in Paradise may be fine. But not in my food. They swooished the birds away- I do not want bird borne diseases. How nasty and unsanitary. I called the travel agent- We were suppose to stay 7 days- we left early- We had to spend $30.00 round trip to go downtown to get food. I would not eat there. The workers , when I complained- stirred the food around on the buffet. They did nothing about the birds. This place should be reported to the Health Dept,- if there is one in Freeport. I could not wait to Leave.
I ask for a refund of my trip- No Luck there I am sure.
Horrible Horrible experience. Never have I left early from a resort. I could not eat the food. Others were complaining and leaving early as well.

Please be forwarned that at the VIVA WYNDHAM FORTUNA “RESORT” in Freeport, Bahamas, you may be subjected to sexual harassment by a pervert/flasher on the beach, just as my wife was in Sept 2009. His name is Michael, he is one of the natives, and he lives in a house next door to the resort. He and most of the vendors along the beach are related, and friends with the “security” for the “resort”. According to local law, they cannot be denied access to a portion of the beachfront, a strip about 20 feet from the waves all along the resort property. Most all of the staff at the VIVA WYNDHAM FORTUNA are aware of this person, Michael, and said this has happened many times before. The manager of the “resort” said that there is nothing they can do about this. DO NOT GO TO THIS “RESORT” IF YOU VALUE YOUR SAFETY. The management, the police, and CARNIVAL CRUISES, who took us there….none of them care. I have written repeated emails to CARNIVAL, imploring them to remove this excursion from their list, and all they could say is that they were sorry. Nothing has been done.
This “resort”, the VIVA WYNDHAM FORTUNA, is really a dump anyway. Not a place that I would recommend to an enemy, much less someone I cared about. It is outdated and substandard and the beach is covered with cigarette butts. THEY DO NOT PROTECT THEIR GUESTS. The security is in cahoots with the perpetrator. Freeport is not a place I would ever go again in my worst nightmare anyway. It’s ugly and the people are surly and have a crappy attitude, like they hate tourists or something. SHAME ON THE VIVA WYNDHAM FORTUNA AND SHAME ON CARNIVAL CRUISE LINES!!
I just returned from a vacation at Viva Wyndham. I would advise anyone to stay away from that place. The hotel room was dirty. Our friends bed sheets were not changed from the previous vacationers. The safe did not work, we did not have towels in our hotel room, when we asked for towels they took forever to arrive. The staff was so rude, the front desk girls were unhelpful and rude. This hotel was by far the worst place I have ever stayed at. The chinese restaurant is not worth the try. The Italian restaurant was closed the whole time we were there. I later found out they had a serious bug problem and had to close to fumigate the place. Yuk! Buyer beware! On the other hand the beach was beautiful and the nightly shows were well done, but the beach is as beautiful at another hotel.
The pictures on the website are very misleading. If they were accurate at all, then maybe this really would be considered a resort. The food was terrible. We stayed 6 days and were very disappointed. It was hit or miss with the friendliness of the s

We stayed there for 6 days. Rooms were nice and kept clean by the maid. Their Italian & Oriental restaurants you needed to make reservations for were very poor. We ate in each one and didn't feel there was enough food served and was very poor...

The Fortuna Beach was the worst hotel experience ever. We had 1 night booked but ended up being there a day early, so went directly to the hotel to see if we could check in a day earlier. It was after 6 and the front desk said we could not check in...
