Iowa passed the law July 1, 2008 that all public buildings are smoke free. During our stay @ Village West we were surprised that the resort does not instruct the employees to smoke in an inconspicuous area away from where guests come & go. Believe it or not just this week we saw the blonde older lady from the front desk sitting outside the front door (on a large rock) smoking cigarettes. This looks very tacky and inappropriate. This is where all guests check-in and out. I think employees should at least have the decency to smoke where guests do not have to walk by & see or SMELL it. Maybe some people don't care about others. I did notice this person is quite unprofessional even behind the desk in regards to the language she uses and a very negative attitude. Maybe she just needs to be reminded that her attitude and demeanor plays a crutial part in the first impression that guests get. She would be more likely suited for a job in housekeeping.

This so called resort was such a disappointment. The room's are old and very dirty the staff all the way to the owner were rude and very unaccommodating. we had dirty underwear in our room and pubic hair all over the bathroom. The only restaurant in the evening is an old dingie bar. The food is disgusting and again the staff is terrible. We wouldn't recommend to our worst enemy
