46 year old male with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
Our family of 5 (3 kids age 10, 9, 6) stayed at the Viking several years ago. This reviewer does not recommend it.
In this writer's opinion, the Viking is long past its prime -- we felt that the rooms were small, dirty, and poorly maintained and that the resort did not come close to justifying its premium price, or any price for that matter. In summary, we were very disappointed by our stay.
That being said, it seemed that a number of other guests were on return visits and were very loyal to the place.
60 year old male with a moderate budget, traveling for business
Stayed there 2 nights. The person before me decided to leave when she saw the room and that is when I should have left. Motel rooms are so outdated and small. You only have 26 inches between wall and shower to sit on toilet. I asked if they are all that small and was told yes. The room and deck were dirty. I asked that the deck be sweeped off before I took my things in the room. Housekeeper said, "It's done." When I went on deck the same leaves and spider webs were there. This could be a beautiful resort if the owner would spend some money on it. What was called a beach was the grass, then a low stone wall, then water. What a shame for this place!

Excellent
True the prices are a bit up there but the view and hospitality go far above what you'd get at a regular hotel, And the owner Ken is a great guy. We started going to the Viking two years ago and we plan to return this year for our vaction and...
Excellent. The hotel owner Ken is very friendly and responsive. Surrounding nature is wonderful. Very clean & compfortable. A lot of fun on the lake.
