Everything about The Viceroy oozes cool. From the retro building to the hip decor and gorgeous poolside cabanas, The Viceroy offers instant cool from the moment you step inside the hotel.
Like a spread from your favorite decor magazine, no detail is overlooked, and it's THE nightspot for in-the-know locals. The bar was totally packed by 7 PM on a weeknight. Carefully selected furnishings, wallpaper, mirror collages and decorative items like ceramic greyhounds flanking the elevator bays made for an exciting experience.
From chippendale-style chairs and benches in fun hues like lime green and lobby-level public bathrooms outfitted with black doors, subway tiling and a perfectly flat sink, this was by far the most carefully appointed hotel I'd stayed in. Amenities by Thames were a welcome treat, as were the plush robes hanging invitingly in the bathroom. Internet access was available and the connection was solid; a wide selection of movies are available via in-room programming.
The staff was attentive, and a request for extra towels was at my door in three minutes flat, along with an unexpected package of extra Thames toiletries. Room service is as hip as one would expect, complete with snipped orchids to add flair to even the most basic of continental breakfasts.
The meeting rooms were welcoming and cleanly decorated, and staff stealthily ensured that no one was left without notepads, pens or chilled Voss water at any time. The wallpaper in the rooms is interesting to the point of invigoration - no boring gray felted walls in this joint. It just wouldn't be hip, and this hotel is NOTHING if not hip.
Overall, an EXCELLENT hotel and by far my favorite in the LA area. If you're looking for a fun weekend with the girls or that weekend getaway to Los Angeles you only read about in US Weekly, this is the place to do it!

The hotel has a fantastic location, one block from the beach and within easy driving distance to and from LAX. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable and willing to go the extra mile.
The top notch service and the personalized attention and service made me feel pampered.
I am somewhat likely
to return to the Viceroy Santa Monica.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

You can't ask for much from a place like this. Why? Because they give it so freely! Everything you could ask for is here and it's perfect. The cost is high, but then again, this is Los Angeles. Beware of the parking charge, it's high even for LA-$30 a night. The decor is classic, yet cool and I recommend trying to get a room on the top floor so you can have a great view.

All Review Photos The kids were off to surf camp in Santa Monica. We were in need of a summer mini-holiday, so rather than doing the hour commute each morning from Pasadena we chose to get a hotel near the beach. We even figured we deserved to...

It's not exactly a kid-friendly hotel. The room was pretty nice, but there wasn't much space. The hair dryer they had didn't even work there! Also, when my wife and I went to the beach, leaving our kids in the hotel room (and since they were there...
