Verona Hotel

If there was a rating lower than 1, I would give it to this hotel.

I switched 2 rooms in the hope that there was a mistake and it got worse. The owner wants to make money by cashing in on the locational angle but really invests nothing in cleanliness, safety, service or anything like that. In fact, once you walk in, you feel conned, trapped and incredibly stupid for having lured into this hotel by looking at the internet ad.

I've spent my life traveling the third world and this neighborhood is one of the most unsafe places I've ever seen. I can't believe this is in the US. Seriously, I'd sleep in my car in a parking lot before staying here.

I had read various reviews for the Verona and was expecting the worst! I was pleasantly surprised to find the room clean enough- no bugs- nothing posh, but alright for a room to stay in. I was on a budget and did not wanna spend a lot of money for a room. It had a small private bathroom - a color TV that got 5 channels- a phone in the room that only allowed only incoming calls- the staff was very friendly and always around. I hardly ever heard any noise in the hotel. My band white trash debutantes were playing a huge punk rock show called "dirkfest" at the Great American Music Hall on O'farrell and this hotel was a hop skip and a jump away from the hall. The area in general is somewhat sketchy but it is the tenderloin. NYCs east village a few year's ago comes to mind... The hotel provided pretty good security... The people I saw staying at the hotel were budget travelers and they all seemed cool. I would stay there again- if I wanted a cheap room..No problems!

This was the most unsafe and scariest place I've ever been in. I would not recommend this place even if it was free.
