I've been to Venice numerous times, and have watched this historic building grow into a restored historic landmark once the new owner took over and began renovations several years ago. The rooms are spacious with all the modern comforts (and a full kitchenette), yet retain the feeling that you are staying in a very old establishment with the exposed brick and vintage photos on the walls. This building is apparent in all the old Muscle Beach pictures from the 1920s onward to the 1950s heyday. The owner is very friendly, conversational, and went above and beyond when I needed help to save some travel time. And the beach front location is right there in the middle of it all, walk to the canals, the piers, even the shuttle to Santa Monica.
This is your best bet, for a real piece of Venice.

I thought the location was perfect and It was a lot safer than I thought it was going to be, because of the location.I thought the bathrooms were a little small and there's no air conditioning. It had a great staff and It was reasonably priced.

This little hotel tucked into the "middle" of the boardwalk of Venice Beach is a hidden gem in a truly amazing area. Literally surrounded by shopping, restaurants, bar, bike paths and a most amazing beach. It has all you need for a wonderful beachside getaway. Teri the manager went above & beyond...assisting us with airport transfers, recommending restaurants, bars and bicycle rentals and even mapping out a walking tour of Venice. The oceanfront rooms are well worth it...you will see the most amazing sunsets!! The rooms are equipped with all you will need and the bottle of wine...such a well appreciated touch!! I hope to return for another stay at this "Hidden Gem"!!
This was one of the best rooms ever. Airy, open , picture perfect views. The staff performed above and beyond the call. I love the people watching that Venice Beach offers, and there is no better view than the fourth floor, ocean front....

I was a first time traveler to LA and didn't know what to expect from Venice Beach. This hotel is right on the boardwalk and right next to the sand/ocean. There are a ton of shops for miles in front of the boardwalk with a lot of interesting things for sale/cool people to meet. People are very friendly. There are homeless on the boardwalk, but none were threatening. The hotel was older but in good shape and very clean. The beds were comfortable, and I had a free bottle of wine. The staff had my room available before the 3 PM check in, emailed me weather/surf reports, photo copied maps, recommended restaurants, and helped with taxis. Overall a really enjoyable stay.
The staff was very accomidating and friendly! The room was clean and comfortable. The location was wonderful. Anyone who has visited Venice Beach knows it's not a place to be strolling around late at night and the parking is always a challenge. ...
