I'm not one to post bad reviews, but I was treated so unjustly by the Value Place in Johnson City, Tennessee, that I will never recommend this place to anyone.
Not only was my reservation lost, causing me to spend a night in my truck because no other hotel was available. When I returned the next day my room was still not ready @ 2pm.
That should have been a hint at what was to come. I had the worst night sleep on a bed that was harder that the floor. The bed is basically sitting on plywood.
When I tried to get internet access, I was told there was no wireless internet access, only wired and that was an extra $10 (no value there) for 1.5mb/512kb. When I stated I could only use wireless internet, I was told to steal it off the hotel next store. Not something you hear everyday.
My biggest problem with this place was that I was evicted on my second day, for having a dog. This was why I choose the Value Place to begin with. When I called and made my reservation, I asked if dogs were accepted at the hotel. I was told yes. I made mention of the dog again, when I was checking into the hotel.
On day 2 I was spotted with the dog entering the hotel, and told to leave. When I asked for my money back I was told that was not their policy.
Personally I didn't mind leaving the hotel, as it was not a comfortable stay at all, but I didn't think it was fair to kick me out and not refund my money. I would have gladly paid for the night I stayed, however I have now paid for many days that someone else will be staying there.
I will be letting everyone I know to stay away from this location. I cannot vouch for other locations, but this one was litter with problems. However a quick search on the internet for Value Place reviews will result many bad reviews. A few people seem to love this place, but I honestly think those reviews are from the company themselves.
Most reviews I read complained of the following:
Hard beds
Paper thin walls
No linens
Bad services
Lack of space
Poor laundry facilities
Wish I had read these first, live and learn I guess.
I have to agree with all of those.
Value place provides your first roll of toilet paper, and 2 towels. If you need any type of cleaning service, you pay extra. It totes it's self as an extended stay hotel, and provides adequate cooking facilities. Full fridge, range with 2 burners, a sink and a microwave. Bring your own plates and cooking utensils, cause they have nothing for you. I did not notice a fire extinguisher in the room, which is a good thing to have when cooking on a range.
Bathroom space is limited and there is no real space for a lot of clothes, pack light.
I will say, the place was very clean.
I realize my issue maybe an isolated one, but what I find funny about my "eviction" is all the people that were outside drinking and doing drugs in the parking lot did not get evicted. Where is the justice in that? If you feel like living in a college dorm for a week or two, Johnson City Value Place will be right up your alley.
Thanks for reading.
