Situated on almost 300 feet of reef-protected sandy beach, Valley Isle is the perfect place to enjoy the splendor of Hawaii. The resort offers a swimming pool and barbecue area. Two miles from the resort, Kaanapali boasts a championship golf course and the Whaler*s Village, a shopping center and Museum--a large complex of shops and dining spots. Lahaina, only seven miles south of the resort, is popular for its many sight-seeing attractions. We want to inform you that Valley Isle Apartment Owners Association (AOAO) has approved the elevators project in this building. Each elevator will be worked on alternatively during February 16 to late April, 2009. One elevator will remain in use to minimize the impact on your vacation. However, due to the size of the resort you should expect delays at the elevator. At this point, we do not yet have a specific work schedule, but the work hours of such projects usually run from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, excluding US national holidays.

The valley Isle Resort is a very well cared for complex. The public areas, grounds and pool are immaculate. The gas grills and tables were always readily available, and clean. The area is within walking distance to shops and restaurants. The condos have direct ocean front balconies. (This complex is actually in Kahana, not Lahania). We would consider staying here again, but never in unit #1206. We have seen other units and they
were lovely, as expected. We invited people into our unit and they were equally horrified.
I booked directly with the owner through his website. Unfortunately, his website looked much better than the condo itself! Owner also rents out condo #806.
The neglect was present throughout the unit. I had many other photos I didn't have room to include here, such as standing water in the tub after a shower, the rusted shower rod, burned bathroom vanity, and dead bugs in the bathroom light fixture.
The fully equipped kitchen did not have a dishwasher, resulting in questionable cleaning methods of the previous renters, resulting in stained dishes and eating utensils. The kitchen faucet sprayed back at you when turned on. The leaning stove was propped up with a sponge. There were two dish drain racks under the kitchen sink (along with a gallon can of paint), but no drain rack pan. The Teflon pan was scummy and peeling. The manual can opener was gunky and rusted. There were pots and storage bowls without lids. The interior of the microwave was burned. The bathroom sink was rusted with loose scummy faucets. The medicine cabinet was rusted. The vanity drawers had to be lined with paper towels. The one and only closet housed rusted beach chairs and carpet scraps. In the closet was also a new sink in a box dated December 2000. Check out the photo of the iron and ironing board. No explanation needed.
Obviously, we were very disappointed with this condo. We had spent the previous week at a lovely Marriott in Kauai. We went from the Marriott to the "Scaryiott".
It's not my nature to complain, but I felt it was absolutely necessary in this case. A trip to Hawaii is a once in a life time trip for most of us. I wouldn't want anyone else to feel the major disappointment as we did, after walking through the front door.

This is our third trip to Maui, and we have always stayed in south Maui, but this year we got a tip from a friend and we stayed at the Valley Isle Resort in the Kaanapali area of north Maui. As we found out, the sun shines every day in that area, and the breezes were wonderful.
We rented a condo from one of the owners through their website on the internet and we had a perfect vacation. The resort is very nicely kept, and it is right on a nice sandy beach. It was quiet, quiet, quiet! We met some of the owners who live there full time, and they introduced us to "sunset at the beach", a Maui tradition, and a memory that we will never forget.
Needless to say, this was the best vacation we ever had, and the price was very reasonable. We strongly recommend this resort, and we recommend renting from an owner.
