A decade ago, my parents had to basically drag me out of our Philadelphia home to vacation down in Sarasota, Florida. But the minute we pulled up to Tropical Shores Beach Resort, I was thanking them for it.
On a recent visit to Sarasota, Tropical Shores was the first place that came to mind and, ten years later, it was as beautiful and serene as ever. The resort provides the privacy of a beach home, the charm of an intimate community, and the fun of a top-notch hotel with its huge pool and convenient location just steps away from the gorgeous Siesta Key Beach.
Siesta Beach boasts the whitest and softest sand in the world and is consistently ranked among the top 10 beaches in the world. I've been to a lot of beaches and I have to say, Siesta Key tops my list of favorites. After sipping pina colodas on a private beach in Cozumel, I STILL have to say that I'd rather be digging my toes into that luxurious Siesta sand anyday.
I suggest spending your Sunday night at the Siesta Key drum circle, where men, women and children of all ages come to let their hair down and drum and dance the night away! It's free and open to everyone, which is one of those beautiful things about Sarasota. Afterwards, head into Siesta Village for a refreshing drink and seafood at one of the many great bars and restaurants. After a relaxing night's sleep, you can prepare yourself a little breakfast with food you purchase at nearby Crescent Market in your room's kitchen or head over to the nearby Broken Egg or one of the Village's other brunch places.
There is a lot of fun to be had on Siesta (and throughout Sarasota), but Tropical Shores is the perfect place to come back and relax. You can play a sport with the other guests or float in the big (and clean!) pool. Pure relaxation: that's the experience you'll have.
