We entered a lobby which had a distinct smell of smoke, yet when we insisted on knowing why the clerk needed to make a photocopy of my driver license she finally acknowledged: "... so that we can fall on you if something happen in the room and is reported by the maid, like smoking in it, ..."
We did not feel at all welcome and in 15 years traveling around the US it is the first time someone makes a copy of my driver license prior to renting a room!
Very unfortunate and unwelcoming! The owner's well-being is the main priority, not the customer's.

Good
The price. Not as conveniently located as I would have liked. Basically, you get what you pay for. The room was very small and clean. It has a hair dryer but no iron and a small closet space. Internet was free. The staff was very helpful and friendly....

Horrible
Location. The room was way to expensive for its size and cleanliness. This hotel was in a good area, but the parking was horrible, the hotel room was way too small. The bathrooms could have been a whole lot cleaner. The amount of money that I paid...

Okay
I like that it was the perfect location.I did not like how small the room was. I was pleased with the location of the Travelodge. It was okay to stay there for just one night. I would not recommend staying there for a long period of time. For the...
59 year old male with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
My family and I stayed here in March of 2004, before the renovation.
Although the rooms are smallish, we had our 1 1/2 year old son and to be able to take him to the Presidio right next door to play and to a small neighborhood pocket-park two blocks away was great. We found the staff helpful and motivated. There is a famous large flock of escaped parrots that live in the area and observing them was a lot of fun too.
There are several nice places to eat in the same block. Several key Muni bus lines converge in this area. We would stay here the next time we visit SF, which I hope is soon.
