37 year old with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

This one is located on Ina Road and we paid $50/night.

We loved that it was close in proximity to where we needed to be that weekend, but the cons totally outweighed the pros. We will never stay here again!

Should have known that things weren't going to be up to standard when we walked into the lobby area and was "welcomed" to the hotel. Not! I can honestly say that I had never encountered a rude front desk person until now. She was irritated and rude the entire weekend we stayed there, always scowling - never smiled. We were more of an inconvenience to her than a guest. We should of ran away before things could get worse - but we didn't. Should have known to always go with your gut.

We went to the room and upon opening the door, it smelled like sewage. The A/C didn't function as we had it on high and it barely pushed any air out. The carpet wasn't something to walk barefoot on, apparently it used to be a reddish color, but was more black than anything. The "Queen" bed we requested was non-existent. The bed we got would be listed at other hotels as maybe a full. Our room had a microwave and mini fridge in it, and so we loaded it up for our weekend. The next morning we woke to lukewarm milk and soggy cheese. We didn't attempt to use the microwave in fear of what might "blow up" if we did.

The train ran at all hours of the night and the walls were really thin. Could hear all of our neighbors coming and going. We had to make a trip to the "friendly front office" 2x daily to get our room keys redone as we kept getting locked out of our room. The "swimming pool" was closed, so we were directed to the neighboring hotels pool. It was freezing cold (we were in Arizona mind you), and the hot tub was less than desireable. (The water in it was almost black!) The ice machine on the 2nd floor didn't work so we had to go to the one by the front office to get ice.

The other problem with our stay - bugs in the room. Little mosquito looking bugs, gnats, and moths. Not cool. The TV was horrible - it constantly had blue/green/red lines running through the picture and the dressers bottom drawers were sealed shut. One of the chairs at the table in the room was so unstable that we were afraid to move it thinking it would fall apart.

Hence the rating. We learned a valuable lesson. Always remember the old adage "You get what you pay for".
