The hotel is on the beach. Has a huge outdoor pool. The bar right next door had great entertainment. My wife and son spent one entire day walking through the shops nearby, while I went parasailing and snorkeling. The room was clean, cool and a great

My wife and I were just booking our return trip to this hotel, when I stumbled across these reviews... We were there during the May fire. We were awoken by the police knocking on the door to alert us. When we looked out, there were hotel staff, policemen, and firefighters knocking on every door in the building. They also informed us, that the "smoke" detectors did not go off, because it was not smoke. It was only fumes from the melted plastic. It smelled terrible, but we were in no danger. The staff moved everyone from one side of the hotel to the other for the night.
Otherwise, yes the rooms may have pastel in the bathrooms. But, our rooms were clean, the staff was friendly, and we are gladly going back to stay again. It's a reasonably priced hotel, "on the beach"!

I had just returned home from a 3 night stay at travelodge, and let's just say I couldn't wait to leave. Our group had a total of 6 rooms and we had bad experiences from the time we walked in the door from their rude employees to the dumpy rooms. Their is no handi-cap access, no elevators. So being I was traveling with an infant and on the second floor I had to leave my stroller in a family's room downstairs. When asked to get a 1st floor room, they wouldn't accomadate me because I had not requested that when booking. On the first night there was a fire in a room and smoke flowed throughout one of the buildings which included my uncles room. Smoke detector did not work and their was no evacuation done by employees. It took my uncle to call the front desk when they finally suggested he get out. Also, though no fault of hotel, 2 of our friends were mugged on beach in front of our hotel. The Shell's restaurant was also a joke. It took 2 hours from time we walked in door till we got our food. Also, very rude employees. The rooms are very outdated and need a lot of work. Cockroaches were found by one family member in her sink. I could go on and on about our experience. Please spend the little bit extra money to go to a different hotel. I am sure none can be as bad as this one.

I just returned from a 3 night visit as this hotel and we couldn't wait to leave. We had a bad experience from the time we walked in the door, from the rude employees to the dumpy rooms. First of all no handicap access, no elevators. I traveled with an infant and had a stroller and a second floor room. When asked if I could have a first floor room, they wouldn't accomadate me because I hadn't made that request at time of booking. I had to leave my stroller in a family's first floor room. On the first night of our stay there was a fire in the left side of hotel where my uncle was staying. Smoke detectors did not work and no evacuation plan was used by staff. It took for him to call front desk and say there was smoke in his room. The desk clerk told him, "the fire dept. is here, if it's that bad then you need to get out." Let me also point out this is 1:30 a.m. Also, on the first night of our stay, though no fault of the hotel, 2 of our friends were mugged on beach in front of hotel. The rooms are highly outdated and barely operable. Amongst the 6 rooms that our family accomadated we experienced no outlet covers, broken shower knobs, uncleaned bathrooms, cockroaches, broken closet doors, and dirty rooms. We had breakfast in the Shells restaurant only once for the service was awful and the food was not so great. It took 2 hours from when we walked in door until we recieved our food. When it came time to check out, 3 people got ripped off on their bills. Folks, please spend the extra money and stay at one of the other hotels along the beach. They've got to better than this one.

This place was the absolute worst motel we have ever stayed at! We had a pool side room which is a joke plus the extra channels on TV! Well we only got 5 channels total but 1 was a Showtime movie Channel! My son got a room block as they were getting married at a near by motel but they failed to tell him poolside rooms are not eligible for discount so we paid the $119.00 a night! Our first night there was the scariest! 2 guys from our party were mugged on the beach and one side of the motel started on fire where some of our other party were staying! Can you believe none of the smoke detectors worked including in my daughter's room with 2 infants! They also did not bother to evacuate any rooms unless you happened to wake up through this which was at 12:30 a.m. This motel is also not handicap accessible! All rooms have a step-up and there are no elevators to get to other floors! So if you have strollers or anything they just tell you to deal with it! All rooms do have safes in them but you get charged extra on your bill for that so if you're not going to use it I suggest you just carry it up to the front desk to save the extra charge you will find at check out time! We did have a hairdryer in our bathroom but the only outlet had no cover on it and was filled with dust and mold so it was just too scarry to touch! Also the knob for the shower fell off everytime you touched it! The staff at the front desk is anything but accomadating! They are rude and extremely nasty! We ate at the restaurant for breakfast but only once! There were 3 tables and the waiter was absolutely overwhelmed! From the time we sat down to the time we got our food was well over an hour and a half! I personally manage 2 restaurants and believe me this place is a joke from start to finish! To say the least this place needs to be leveled! If you ever stay in St. Pete's Beach DO NOT stay here! Everything about it is just BAD!!!

I am sorry to say that The Travel Lodge St Pete Beach is the worst accomodation I have EVER stayed in (Worldwide), and checked out after only 2 days. My major complaint was the noise between rooms. You could hear the adjacent people talking via the vents in the bathroom and also hear the toilets flush. The showers have NO thermostatic control and when the adjacent room had a shower, at the same time, water temperature fluctuated to the point where my head was scolded. The staff fobbed me off saying that mine was the first complaint they had had about water temperature and yet, evryone I talked to had the same problem. My accident report was NOT resolved and I will NEVER use travel lodge EVER again. In my opinion A small child would have been severely hurt and an older person, less adgile, may have fallen from the shock of the change in temperature.

Okay
It was right on the beach and within easy access of amenities. It was dirty, and the shower was awful. It would turn from scalding to freezing without warning. No in between.“It was nice to be on the beach and within easy walking of most needs. But...
