Horrible experience - do NOT stay here!!. Had 2 nights reserved & prepaid. No problems checking in, but after the 1st morning, we left the room to go sightseeing in S.F. Got back late that evening to find our room passes no longer worked. After checking with the office, we were told we had been checked out at 11:30 AM, without our knowledge, while we were downtown! Luckily, I had a printed copy of my reservation with the confirmation number, so I showed it to the staff to prove that we were supposed to be there for 2 nights. Unfortunately, they had already given our room to someone else! They found us another room & apologized, so we moved into THAT room. Then I remembered, I had left my contacts, glasses case, & a few other items in the old room. The staff had to call the general manager in from home (only one person on duty at night). She tried to find out why we had been checked out without our knowledge while we were sightseeing, to no avail. She apologized for our inconvenience and went with us to the cleaning staffâ?Ts room to try & locate my missing items, again to no avail. She then refunded me $100 for our trouble and took my name & number in case my items showed up later. At that point I was somewhat satisfied, until the next morning. We woke up & when my stepdaughter tried to take a shower, the knob came off in her hand, so no showers that morning. My wife also discovered a used, bloody sanitary napkin in the trash can which had not been emptied when the room was supposedly cleaned, & while I was in the bathroom, the towel rack fell apart, dumping all the clean towels on the floor. There were also crumbs in the bed, leading us to believe the sheets had not been changed. I checked us out immediately after this, and left the shower knob with the staff at the front desk, after repeating my story of everything above to them. They had not been informed of our problems with the rooms the previous night. I used to like Travelodge, but I guarantee we will never stay there again!!!!! The staff never offered a satisfactory explanation as to why we were checked out the previous day without our knowledge or permission. The only bright spot to the entire experience was the manager [...], who seemed to be the ONLY competent employee and showed genuine concern regarding the problems.
