I booked this hotel for a total of eight days in mid-to-late June when I needed to come to Chicago for an operation. The room they gave me (twice - on either side of the surgery) was large and clean; it had both a refrigerator and a microwave. The bathroom alone was larger than some hotel rooms I have stayed in. Everything worked properly and the bed was comfortable (important for a recuperating surgical patient). The staff were friendly and informative. There is wireless internet capability in the rooms and a dedicated terminal in the lobby for those who need web access but don't have a laptop. There were perhaps five restaurants and three stores very nearby (one to two blocks), and Chicago's metro rail system was accessible a block away. I don't know how anyone could rate this a bad hotel; my stay was wonderful, and I'll definitely book again if ever need to go back to Chicago. By the way, the Hilton is about two blocks away - in the "bad direction" - and their prices were $ignificantly higher... I highly recommend the Travelodge.

In all matters of dealing with the hotel staff, I found them to be very rude and not helpful at all. Staff accused us of flooding the hotel room because of some plumbing problem on their part which was pouring water through the electrical lighting...

This Travelodge was much better than I was expecting. The rooms were like old studio apartments. There were plenty of amenities for a short stay. The location is just a block off of Michigan Ave. Walking distance to the Shedd's, and the Navy Pier....
