We don't get out of the city (Grand Rapids) much, but when we do we head up north to find peace and relaxation( and a little gambling I must admit). This past summer we wondered into the Onekama/Portage Lake area Just north of the Little River Casino, and found the perfect place to stay at the Travelers Motel. We loved the personal touches and the friendly mom and pop feel. The rooms made us feel truly "up north" with the log headboards and decor. My wife has allergies and a lot of the older motels bother her, but the Travelers Motel was exceptionally clean and she rested very comfortably. They did not have a hair dryer in the room, but when we called the front desk they brought one to our room immediately. Coffee and danish in the morning was just what we needed before heading back on the road.
