Pros:
This place is very good for the business traveler. Very clean, very quiet, and great customer service. All rooms non-smoking. Newspaper delievered to your room door every morning. Rooms cleaned every day. Clean towles every day. Free cookies, tea, coffee in lobby (which seemed like 24x7). Free use of the two computers with internet access and printer in lobby. Free high speed wired and wireless internet access and Satellite TV in each room. Free various magazines in the front lobby. Voice mail accessable from outside of hotel (set your own passcode).
Each studio room (smallest available) comes with a very comfortable queen size bed, a desk and 2 chairs, sleeper/sofa & lounge chair with table, 2 nightstands, tv stand, corner lamp stand, air conditioning (which works great), and kitchentte (stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, garbage disposal, refrigerator & freezer, toaster, coffee pot, dishes/utensils, etc.)
Plenty of lights in room. Curtains block 99% of light for those who like to sleep late or early. (Went to bed once at 5pm and could hardley see any light coming into room). Windows open for the few times its cool enough outside to open them.
Small Gym, Pool, and B.B.Q available. Each building has its 2 washer and 2 dryers which work great. Eash building also has soda machine and ice maker. They have a small section in the front lobby where they sell, cookies, sodas, microwave food, canned food, etc.
Food Stores close by: 7/11 across the street, Win-Dixie and Publix about 1 mile away. Hooters, Champps, Longhorn, Movie Theater, etc. about 2 miles away. Front Lobby has menus from all the places that deliever to hotel.
If you like to fish, the lake to the side of the hotel has fish (check local/state laws about fishing, I didn't fish but others were).
Cons:
- Nonsmoking rooms
- No DVD player
- No stereo (but radio on alarm clock)
- No pots/pans (at least in my room, but I didn't cook anyways)
My Travel Notes: I loved this place. It truely is made for the business person who needs a home-away-from-home. Rooms are very clean. Staff is always helpfull and cheerfull. Not one complaint about them. Housekeeping is the best. Kept my room very clean and gave me pleanty of clean towels each day. Also put my dishes to wash in the dishwasher for me each day. Loved coming back to a room that looked like it when I first arrived.
Loved the free wired/wireless internet in the room. Plus liked all the little things like newpaper, magazines, coffee, tea, cookies, printer use, all for free. I am here for 2 weeks (6 more days to go) taking a computer course from Intense School, which by the way is 1/2 a mile away, and the hotel shuttles us back and forth. They also took us to the grocery store and anyplace else we needed to go (within a certain mileage).
I liked this place so much, I have no problem coming and staying here when my wife and I come back to Ft. Lauderdale. Because my class is all day/night, I don't have time to see the sites. But I will next time, and this place is probably where I will stay.
But to be honest, this is probably not the best place for those with small children or any kids for that matter. The only place within walking distance was 7/11. If you have kids, I would take them to a place that has more things geared for them. This hotel is targeted for business travelers. And personally, I would of hated it if there were little kids running around and screaming because they had nothing to do. But, I got lucky (so far).
But if you don't have kids, don't mind driving a few minutes to get to downtown, and just want a clean/quiet place to stay, this place is great. If you are a business traveler, stay here.
Can't tell you what the price is per night because the hotel, breakfast, and lunch were all included with the price of my class. The sign on the back of the door states $299 per nght and checkout at noon. But if you are a business traveler, it is worth it. If you are looking for cheaper places for when you are vacationing, I would suggest you find another place but only if you cannot afford it.
Oh, one last thing. There is a small executive airport across the street, but honestly, I only heard a few planes when I was outside, never from my room.
I hope this review helps you with your decision. Good Luck...
