The Whiteface Lodge was envisioned as a return to the grandeur of the "Great Camps" of the Adirondacks with the luxury amenities of today's finest resorts and private residence clubs. Completed in June 2005, it is the vision of a former Olympian and developer who used his decades of building experience to create one of the grandest properties in the region. Much of the timber for the lodge was hand-milled on site and accents such as handcrafted Adirondack furnishings may be found throughout, creating a wonderfully authentic ambiance. The Whiteface Lodge is the first resort in the Northeast with a private residence club, offering members both full and partial ownership throughout 85 magnificent suites. An alternative to traditional second-home ownership, the residences afford members complete access to resort services and amenities, while they are free from concerns such as maintenance, landscaping, and housekeeping. This unique scenario allows the members the luxury of unlimited leisure time with family and friends. With outstanding accolades during its first two years, The Whiteface Lodge is quickly becoming the Adirondacks most sought after destination.During the Great Camp era, the Northeast's most prominent families gathered their finest belongings and set out for true family retreats in the Adirondacks, retreats that defined the modern-day meaning of leisure. The Whiteface Lodge Resort and Spa renews this tradition in the quaint village of Lake Placid, New York. A luxury resort and private residence club, The Whiteface Lodge affords the rustic sophistication of the Adirondack Great Camps with refined service and contemporary amenities. The hotel offers Airport shuttle, business center, concierge, conference facilities, free breakfast, free parking, health club, high speed Internet, pool, restaurant, room service and spa services.

The Whiteface Lodge is an over-priced resort run by corporate vultures where draining your pocket is more important than good hospitality.
Upon making the reservation we mentioned we had two small poms traveling with us and the agent never said it was a problem .Yet the next day we were stopped in the lobby and were told we needed to have the dogs removed from the property immediately. I returned straight to our room to make arraignments and within minutes received a 'courtesy' call from a nasty individual at the front desk informing us that for every day the dogs stayed we would be charged $300. I was not even given a chance to find a boarding place yet! I wasted 1/2 day until l found a place for the dogs and it cost over $300.00 for the weekend boarding.
Seeing that it was a weekend we could not pick up the dogs until 4:00 p.m. Sunday which was our planned return date. Boston is a 6 hours drive with a 4 year old so we called the manager on duty to ask for a late-check out. In addition to being unaccommodating with our situation my wife got nothing but nasty attitude from the manager who tried to put the blame back on us. When my wife told her that her tone was very unprofessional, the manager told her the SHE was the one with the attitude! Never in my life have i come across such blatantly rude customer service.
My wife works for Westin Hotels and will be sure that everyone she speaks to is warned about the horrible attitude she received from the staff. I have been very blessed in life and own a company that services the motion picture industry and will be sure to do the same. I don't want anything from anyone. Money means nothing to me when it come to my family having a good time and stress free experience when on vacation. It's too late for that now.
We loved the hotel environment just as much the surrounding area.
With so much to do and see outside of the hotel, the icing on the cake was the exceptional service and ambiance of the stay at Lake Placid Lodge itself.

A romantic getaway where the hotel environment and ambiance is a major part of the experience and becomes a big part of our memories doesn't happen too often. Not at the Lake Placid Lodge, we loved where we stayed and ate just as much as the...
