I travel to Greenville frequently on business, and had grown tired of staying at the Soviet-style Hyatt down the street and wanted to try the much more outwardly glamorous (and more expensive!) Westin.
I booked a room for a week's stay and am now 2 nights in, and have been majorly disappointed. My room is a box with absolutely no imagination. The windows are single pane (is this still even legal?) and even on the 8th floor I hear absolutely everything that happens on the busy street below.
I swear someone is vacuuming the hallways from midnight to 1am, and the first night my alarm clock (which dates from the Reagan administration and is a $10 Sony) woke me up in the middle of the night. I have no bathrobe in the room (so much for "heavenly bath") and there is no mini bar. The television is a big fat Zenith (the only thing "flat" in the room is the $4 bottle of water), the hotel is dated and incredibly overrated.
If the Hyatt is a 3-star and the Westin a 4-star, I shiver at thinking what a 2-star in this town looks like.
