Anyone who has visited New York before would know that finding a nice, spacious hotel for reasonable amounts of money you is pretty hard. Basically, you have to pay generously to get good value when it comes to hotels. The Westin Hotel Times Square is one of the more expensive places to stay but taking in to consideration its location (practically on top of Times Square) it's what you would expect.
Our stay in New York was our first and last, as the prices are not ones we can compete with so we chose this hotel as, in our opinion, it looked like it was one of the best.
We definitely weren't disappointed. After a long journey and not feeling too good, we checked and as our journey had been so awful we were offered an upgrade from the 29th floor to the 44th (one from the top) and managed to bag ourselves a premium room!
Not believing our luck, the room was gorgeous. Two queen beds and superb views across Manhattan. We arrived at night so the view was an incredible view of lights for as far as you can see. The "Heavenly Beds" are so much more than heavenly. You just sink in to them for a perfect nights sleep.
The hotel itself is spectacular, it's extremely sophisticated and posh. The lobby is beautiful, the lifts have televisions in them, it's very, very nice.
The staff is incredibly helpful, as are the rest of New York's population, anyone would bend over backwards to help us. The room's cleanliness was immaculate every time it was cleaned, and you can even get umbrellas from the security desk if it is raining outside, for free!
There really aren't many down points about this hotel. The only ones worth mentioning are probably room service. Our in-room-safe wouldn't work and we had to wait an hour for someone to come up and help.
Considering our room was expensive (and if we had paid the real price of our upgraded room it would of been £1000 for 3 nights.) we didn't eat in Shula's Steak House, however drink from their bar were particularly expensive (about £8 for a Barcadi and cola). But I guess that's what you would expect from such a renowned hotel.
E-Walk next door was truly advertised to be some amazing entertainment complex next door, but even one of the security guards told us it was nothing like that when we asked about it. The cinema looks fairly good, although we weren't allowed to browse around it unless we had a ticket for a movie. There are places to eat there (2) but they're fairly packed throughout the evening.
Overall the Hotel was one of the best I have stayed, but that is what you would expect for the money you pay. Great location, great amenities and the cons are nothing compared to the pros.
It's highly recommended if you have the money.
