I love the Westin Times Square. Everything you could possibly want or need is in the hotel, including a full-service movie theatre, and the staff is stellar.
This is one of the few Starwood properties I?ve stayed in that actually maintains a separate check-in for Starwood Gold and Platnum members and uses it. The line was super-quick, and the upgrades were immediate. For an eight-day stay over Thanksgiving, we were upgraded to a room on the top floor with amazing views of NYC and the Hudson River. Just stunning.
The décor is modern, without being TOO hip. Located just a block of Times Square, it's in the middle of everything without being as loud or bright as a hotel located directly on the Square.
Room service is fantastic. I think some of the items come from Shula?s restaurant downstairs, and everything we?ve eaten there has been good. The rooms are simple and clean ? décor isn?t anything to get excited over inside the rooms themselves, but clean and simple is really enough for me, personally. The bed was a Westin Heavenly Bed, which is consistently fantastic.
I?d recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a solid hotel in NYC. Cabs are easily obtained by the porters outside the hotel ? I?ve never waited more than 5 minutes. If you let the staff know you?d like a car service the night before you leave, they?ll have one waiting to whisk you away the next day at the specified time. And because you don?t actually have to fight Times Square traffic to get out of town, you can actually make it to JFK about 15 minutes faster than if you?re staying inside Times Square proper, even though it?s really only about a block difference. Rates vary but there are plenty of specials that make these rooms affordable for anyone visiting NYC.
