The Westin Indianapolis Hotel

I had to stay here b/c conference host selected this hotel and paid for my room and parking. In order to qualify for the parking charge being covered by my host, I was required to use their valet service and not allowed to self-park. When I tried to reconfirm my reservation, I was mistreated by some front desk person. Toilet didn't flush, and hot water was limited. Just a word of warning, they cannot handle large groups of attendees effectively nor manage their customer service staff. Concierge and valets were rude -- "What dya want lady, you've got your car now, you can put your own bags in it!" was shouted to a colleague. They did not have enough staff on hand to handle valet service, security for bags in locker was lax -- they were letting masses of people just go rummage around for bags. They held us waiting and waiting and would not give us our keys to even let us self-exit because they are in some feud with the City Park people where they lease lot space and were not prepared for a mass exodus of attendees following a conference this month. People missed airline flights b/c of valet delays. I was nearly run over trying to load my own bags once I got my car. It was a near riot. This was not NY but Indy --- the whole incident was so uncivilized from Midwest norms. Word in the lobby was that 5 valets walked off the job on 12/06/07 when they mandated they stay overtime...they have lost control of customer service and their mission....I think all they want to do is sell sheets and towels (check out the room catalog! Hilarious!). They are not worth the price paid. I won't come back nor advocate my host use them in the future for this conference.

The hotel was very nice. The bed was heavenly. I did not like the vending machine in our room.

The rooms were a bit small and the Starbucks lobby franchise did not honor the Starbucks discount offers. The internet convenience in the business center was no longer available.

It was a good location and a nice place to stay.
